Good Friday Prayer Gathering Planned in Downtown Okmulgee

Mayor Mickey Baldwin is encouraging people to come together this Friday at 6:30 p.m. as Holy Week takes a climatic turn towards Resurrection Sunday. “Many opportunities are being made available this week across our city for hunting eggs, winning prizes and Easter focused on candy,” Baldwin said. “Families will be getting together for picnics and pictures too.  As followers of Christ, we also need to take time to join our hearts together to celebrate and declare our love for Jesus as he has opened the heavens that we might have access to God and His heart.”

The Prayer Gathering will be on the north sidewalk of Council House Square starting at 6:30 pm. Several local ministers will be praying and a couple of songs led by Rev. Debbie Valladares of Angeles Temple Foursquare Hispanic Church.

“Okmulgee is a city that has many resources and opportunities for people to live stronger lives and prayer should always be part of our lives,” Mayor Baldwin said. “So join me as we stand together to live and love in the love that Jesus showed us and learn more how to love others—even those different than ourselves.”
