Dunbar Alumni Planning 20th All School Reunion
By Patrick Ford

The alumni of Okmulgee Dunbar High School are gearing up for a remarkable event—the 20th All School Reunion. Scheduled for August 2-4, this three-day gathering promises to be a heartwarming celebration of cherished memories, enduring friendships, and the rich history of Dunbar High School.

Dunbar High School holds a special place in the hearts of its alumni and the Okmulgee community. Named after the renowned African American poet Paul Laurence Dunbar, the school has a storied history that reflects both the struggles and triumphs of African Americans in the early to mid-20th century. Established during a time of segregation, Dunbar High School became a beacon of hope and opportunity for many young African Americans in Okmulgee.

Throughout the years, Dunbar High School not only provided a solid education but also fostered a strong sense of community and pride among its students. The school was known for its dedicated teachers, rigorous academic programs, and outstanding extracurricular activities, including sports, music, and drama. Many Dunbar alumni have gone on to achieve significant success in various fields, contributing to the school’s lasting legacy.

Alumni from all over the country are expected to attend, rekindling old friendships and creating new memories. The reunion committee has planned an exciting agenda that includes a mix of social events, nostalgic moments, and opportunities to reflect on the school’s impact.

Important Dates and Registration

  • Event Dates: August 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, 2024
  • Early Registration Fee: $125 per person (due by July 2)
  • Late Registration Fee: $150 per person (after July 2)

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all attendees, early registration is highly encouraged. The reunion committee has worked diligently to organize an event that honors the spirit of Dunbar High School, and timely registrations will help in making the necessary arrangements. However, registrations will also be accepted at the door for those who may decide to join at the last minute.

Alumni are reminded to secure their hotel accommodations as soon as possible. With many attendees expected, nearby hotels are likely to fill up quickly. Early booking will ensure you have a comfortable place to stay during the reunion weekend.

The 20th All School Reunion is more than just a gathering; it is a celebration of a shared heritage and the lasting impact of Dunbar High School on its students and the community. From reminiscing about the good old days to forging new connections, this reunion promises to be a phenomenal event.

Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reconnect with old friends and celebrate the history and spirit of Okmulgee Dunbar High School. See you all in August!

For more information and to register, please visit the official reunion website or contact the reunion committee directly. Let’s make this reunion one for the history books!
