Boys show strength in throws
The Twin Hills Junior High boys track and field team competed April 11 at the Stroud meet, with strong field event results from the 7th grade group and added depth from the 8th grade athletes highlighting the day. The 7th grade Hornets finished seventh overall in team standings.
Twin Hills’ top performance came in the throwing events, where Micco Campbell led the way with a first-place finish in the shot put. Campbell record- ed a throw of 34 feet, 2.5 inches, marking one of the team’s top individual efforts of the meet. Teammate Angel Ramirez also contributed with a fourth-place finish at 31 feet, 10.5 inches, giving Twin Hills two top-four placements in the event.
Ramirez continued his strong showing in the discus, placing sixth with a throw of 81 feet, 9 inches. Campbell followed with a mark of 76 feet, adding depth and consistency in the event. The pair’s performances established the throws as a clear strength for the Hornets.
On the track, the 7th grade group gained valuable experience across multiple events. Aiden Wilson competed in both the 100-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles, posting times of 17.63 seconds and 24.20 seconds. Aiden Bradford added a time of 3:24.65 in the 800-meter run, contributing to the team’s effort in middle-distance competition.
The 8th grade athletes provided additional production across sprint and hurdle events. Aaron Wilson led the group in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.93, while Levi Gamas (14.30) and Joshua Driver (14.48) followed to round out the event.
Driver also competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing with a time of 32.12, and played a key role in the hurdles. In the 100-meter hurdles, Driver recorded a time of 18.71, with Aaron Wilson close behind at 18.79, giving Twin Hills a strong showing in the event.
In the 800-meter run, Dustin Ryder added a time of 3:17.89, continuing the team’s representation across distance races.
Overall, Twin Hills demonstrated a balanced effort, with the 7th grade group producing top finishes in the field events and the 8th grade athletes adding depth and experience on the track. The combination allowed the Hornets to remain competitive throughout the meet while continuing to develop across all event areas.
The seventh-place team finish for the 7th grade group reflected steady contributions across events, particularly in the throws, while the 8th grade performances highlighted continued growth in sprint and hurdle competition.

The Twin Hills Junior High girls track and field team turned in a well-rounded performance April 11 at the Stroud meet, with both 7th and 8th grade athletes contributing across running and field events.
The Lady Hornets saw standout performances from their 8th grade group, led by Millie Washington. Washington placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.72 and dominated the hurdles, capturing first place in both the 100-meter hurdles (17.07) and 300-meter hurdles (51.87). Her efforts marked some of the top individual finishes of the meet and provided a strong foundation for the team’s overall performance.
In the same sprint event, Lexis Enright posted a time of 15.16, while Luella Campbell followed at 15.57, adding depth in the 100 meters. The 4×100-meter relay team of Enright, Kambree Chesier, Campbell and Washington placed eighth with a time of 58.29, showcasing developing chemistry and speed among the group.
In middle-distance competition, Braylee Odom recorded a time of 4:00.44 in the 800-meter run, contributing to the team’s efforts across multiple event areas.
The Lady Hornets also saw participation in the field events from their 8th grade athletes. Journiee Longan recorded a throw of 49 feet, 11 inches in the discus, while also competing in the shot put with a mark of 20 feet, 4 inches.
The 7th grade group added key performances, particularly in the throwing events. Preslee Gilfillan led the way with a second-place finish in the discus at 57 feet, 8 inches. She also placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 24 feet, 7 inches, giving Twin Hills a strong presence in both events. Abeni Pendergrass contributed alongside Gilfillan, recording a discus throw of 46 feet, 8 inches and a shot put mark of 21 feet, 4 inches.
On the track, Annistyn Wilson paced the 7th grade sprinters, finishing the 100 meters in 15.86 and the 200 meters in 33.64. Kassidy Her added a time of 3:36.36 in the 800-meter run, providing additional balance for the Lady Hornets.
Overall, Twin Hills demonstrated strength in the hurdles, throws and sprint events, with multiple athletes producing competitive marks and finishes. The combination of podium performances from the 8th grade group and strong field event results from the 7th grade athletes highlighted the team’s versatility.
