Kemri Penn delivered the biggest swing of the game Wednesday, blasting a grand slam to lead the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs to an 8-6 win over Liberty.
Penn finished with four RBIs on two hits, providing the offensive spark in a game that saw Okmulgee build a sizable early lead before holding off a late rally.
The Lady Bulldogs got on the board in the second inning when Kennedy Dunn grounded out to score a run. They then broke the game open in the third, scoring five runs, highlighted by Penn’s grand slam and an RBI single from Kayonna Proctor.
Okmulgee extended its lead to seven runs before Liberty mounted a comeback, scoring multiple runs late to close the gap to two.
Despite Liberty’s 12-hit effort, Okmulgee’s offense proved just enough. The Lady Bulldogs tallied 11 hits, with Penn, Addison Yates, Proctor and Tiah Harjo each collecting two hits.
Yates also contributed in the circle in relief to help secure the win.
Liberty was led by strong performances at the plate, including three-hit outings from two players and a pair of RBIs from their middleof- the-order hitter. Okmulgee held firm down the stretch to preserve the hard-fought victory.
