Residents are invited to celebrate more than a century of community service as Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) marks its annual OHCE Week, May 4-8.

This year’s celebration highlights 112 years of service to Okmulgee County and the state of Oklahoma, recognizing the organization’s long-standing commitment to education, volunteerism and community enrichment. Through its partnership with OSU Extension, OHCE continues to play a vital role in teaching valuable life skills to individuals of all ages.

OHCE members have been a strong presence in the community, offering programs and instruction in areas such as food preservation, sewing, home health, exercise and practical home skills. The organization is also known for its support of youth development, including involvement with local 4-H programs.

As part of the week’s festivities, the public is invited to attend the Indian Taco Lunch on Tuesday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Okmulgee Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall.

The event will feature traditional Indian tacos made with fresh fry bread prepared by OHCE members. Meals are priced at $10 and include a taco, water and dessert, with additional fry bread available for $2. A to-go option will also be offered for those on the go.
