Lady Demons beat Mounds, Eufaula in recent action

TIFFANY BELL

SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Tenison sparks Beggs past Mounds in 8-3 victory The Beggs Lady Demons used an early offensive surge and a complete-game performance in the circle from Ruby Tenison to secure an 8-3 win over Mounds High School last Monday, April, 6 in Okmulgee.

Beggs set the tone immediately, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning and never relinquishing control. Ruby Tenison delivered the key early blow with a two-run single, while additional traffic on the bases helped the Lady Demons build an early cushion.

The momentum continued in the second inning as Beggs added two more runs. Abby Yandell contributed an RBI opportunity in the frame, and Emma Trimble followed with a double to right field that plated another run, pushing the lead to 5-0 through two innings.

Mounds responded in the third inning when Cloud connected for a two-run home run, cutting into the deficit and briefly shifting momentum. However, Beggs answered quickly, maintaining composure despite two defensive errors that allowed Mounds to stay within reach early.

After a quiet stretch through the middle innings, Beggs regained control in the fifth. Tenison again provided the spark, this time delivering a two-run triple that extended the lead. The Lady Demons added another run in the frame as timely hitting continued to produce separation late in the game.

Beggs capped its scoring in the sixth inning with one more run, sealing an 8-3 advantage heading into the final frame.

Tenison was dominant in the circle for Beggs, pitching all seven innings while allowing nine hits and three runs, all earned. She issued no walks and struck out one, working efficiently across 60 pitches with 45 strikes to keep Mounds off balance throughout the contest.

Offensively, Beggs finished with 12 hits, showcasing depth throughout the lineup. Brooklyn Hazelwood, Emma Trimble, and Tenison each recorded two hits to pace the attack. Abby Yandell, Willow Herod, Aliyah Vernon, Kaylynn Hamilton, and Stella Howell all added key contributions, helping maintain pressure on the Mounds defense.

The Lady Demons also showed patience at the plate, drawing six walks. Avery Been and Abigail Harmon each reached multiple times via walks, helping extend innings and create scoring opportunities. Beggs did not record a stolen base in the contest but consistently advanced runners through contact hitting.

Defensively, Beggs committed two errors but limited damage thanks to timely pitching and situational outs behind Tenison. Mounds finished with nine hits in the game but struggled to string together consistent rallies after its third-inning home run.

Cloud accounted for the majority of Mounds’ offensive production with the two-run homer, while the rest of the lineup was held in check over the final innings.

With balanced offense, controlled pitching, and early run production, Beggs improved its momentum in the spring slate with an 8-3 home-field victory that highlighted both lineup depth and resilience after mid-game pressure.

— Trimble drives in five in win

The Beggs Lady Demons turned in a balanced offensive performance and timely hitting to defeat Eufaula 8-4 last Tuesday, April 7, in Okmulgee.

Emma Trimble led the way for the Lady Demons, driving in five runs on three hits in a standout performance at the plate. Trimble doubled in the first inning to bring in a run, added a sacrifice fly in the third, singled home another run in the fifth, and delivered a two-run double in the sixth to help secure the victory.

Beggs opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning, plating two runs for an early advantage. Eufaula answered in the second to cut the lead in half before taking control briefly in the third. The Lady Ironheads capitalized on a Beggs error and added a run on a base hit to move in front, 3-2.

The Lady Demons responded in the bottom half of the third, as Trimble’s sacrifice fly evened the score at 3-3. Eufaula regained the lead in the fourth inning with a run on a single, making it 4-3.

Beggs broke through in the fifth inning with a decisive rally. Ruby Tenison sparked the inning with a double down the left field line, followed by RBI singles from Trimble and Willow Herod. The threerun frame pushed Beggs back in front, 6-4, and shifted momentum firmly in their favor.

The Lady Demons added insurance in the sixth inning, scoring two more runs to extend the lead to 8-4. Trimble’s second double of the game accounted for both runs, capping her five-RBI effort.

At the plate, Beggs totaled 11 hits, with Trimble, Tenison, and Abby Yandell each collecting three hits. Herod added two hits in three at-bats, contributing to a consistent offensive attack throughout the lineup. The Lady Demons also demonstrated patience at the plate, drawing six walks, with Avery Been leading the way with three.

Tenison handled duties in the circle, pitching a complete game. She allowed 10 hits and four runs, only two of which were earned, while striking out one and walking four across seven innings. Beggs also turned a double play defensively, helping limit Eufaula’s scoring opportunities.

With steady production at the plate and key hits in crucial moments, Beggs secured the 8-4 win and continues to build momentum as the season progresses.
