Muscogee Nation Invitational on tap this weekend

3-day basketball tourney begins Thursday at 10 a.m.

The Mvskoke Dome at the Claude Cox Omniplex in Okmulgee will be the site of this weekend’s Muscogee Nation Invitational basketball tournament.

The 3-day event will feature six of the eight Okmulgee County varsity basketball programs, as well as four junior varsity teams, and will get underway with opening-round action Thursday at 10 a.m. with a first-round meeting in the girls bracket between the top-seeded Preston Lady Pirates and the Dale Lady Pirate junior varsity team.

The first opening-round contest in the boys bracket will take place at 11:30 a.m. and will see the top-seeded Preston Pirates square off against the Wilson Tiger junior varsity squad.

The other first-round contests in the girls bracket on Thursday will see the Beggs Lady Demons take on the Preston JV team at 1 p.m., the Wilson Lady Tigers battling the Henryetta Lady Knights at 4 p.m., and the Morris Lady Eagles going up against the Schulter Lady Bulldogs at 7 p.m.

The other opening-round games in the boys bracket on Thursday will feature the Henryetta Golden Knights against the Preston JV squad at 2:30 p.m., the Wilson Tigers against the Schulter Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m., and the Beggs Golden Demons against the Morris Eagles at 8:30 p.m.

Friday’s tournament action will get started at 10 a.m. with a girls consolation semifinal contest, while Saturday’s tournament schedule will begin with the girls consolation title game at 12:30 p.m.

Admission to the 3-day event is $5 per person, per day.
