Henryetta to hold annual cage tournament

3-day event begins Thursday at 10 a.m.

The annual Henryetta Invitational Basketball Tournament is scheduled to take place this Thursday-Saturday at the Henryetta Event Center. The 3-day basketball tournament will officially get underway Thursday at 10 a.m. with a girls firstround battle between the McLoud Lady Redskins and the Haskell Lady Haymakers.

The other opening-round games in the girls bracket at the 2024 edition of the Henryetta Invitational will feature the Metro Christian Lady Patriots squaring off against the Beggs Lady Demons at 12:40 p.m., the Southmoore Lady Sabercats taking on the Poteau Lady Pirates at 3:20 p.m., and the host Henryetta Lady Knights battling the Bristow Lady Pirates at 6 p.m.

The first boys bracket opening-round contest on Thursday will take place at 11:20 a.m. and will pit the McLoud Redskins against the Haskell Haymakers. The remaining first-round games in the boys bracket on Thursday will see the Okemah Panthers take on the Poteau Pirates at 2 p.m., the Beggs Golden Demons battle the Bristow Purple Pirates at 4:40 p.m., and the host Henryetta Golden Knights square off against the Metro Christian Patriots’ junior varsity team at 7:20 p.m.

Friday’s tournament action will begin with a girls consolation semifinal contest at 10 a.m. and will conclude with the second (of two) boys winner’s bracket semifinal games at 7:20 p.m.

Saturday’s tournament schedule will feature the seventh-place games at 10 and 11:20 a.m., respectively, the consolation finals at 12:40 and 2 p.m., respectively, and the third-place contests at 3:20 and 4:40 p.m., respectively.

The annual 3-day event will conclude on Saturday evening with the girls championship game at 6 p.m. and the boys title contest at 7:20 p.m.
