Henryetta used a steady defensive presence and balanced scoring effort to secure a 39-30 win over Valliant in a second-round consolation bracket matchup at the Henryetta Tournament on Friday afternoon. The Knights controlled the contest from the start, establishing the early lead and never trailing as they moved one step closer to the consolation championship game.
Henryetta opened the game with a productive 12-point first quarter, highlighted by scoring from Max Nye, Nakona Johnson, and Mike McNac. The Knights continued to dictate the pace defensively, holding Valliant to just eight points in the opening period and maintaining their advantage with a 3-2 second quarter that turned the contest into a possession-by-possession grind.
After halftime, the Knights found key contributions from multiple scorers as they continued to protect the lead. Kashton Montgomery provided four third-quarter points inside, while James Joslin added two as part of his late surge. Johnson also chipped in throughout the night, combining mid-range scoring with productive drives to help stabilize the offense as the Knights managed a 7-10 third quarter despite Valliant’s push.
Henryetta’s strongest offensive quarter came in the fourth, where the Knights put up 17 points to close the game out. Joslin led the late surge with five points, while McNac added three and Kade Sanders contributed four as the Knights kept the Bulldogs from mounting a final rally. Additional scoring came from Jeremy Thomas with two points, Gavin Williams with two, and Mavrix Randleman with one, rounding out a balanced scoreboard.
With the win, Henryetta improves to 2-9 and advanced to face Beggs for the consolation championship. Valliant falls to 4-6 and will meet Checotah in the seventh-place game.
