Chili dinner planned ahead of parade

The holiday season in Okmulgee is about to shine even brighter, as two events come together on Dec. 4: the Okmulgee Main Street Festival of Lights Parade and the CASA/Safehouse Chili Dinner. With a festive evening planned from start to finish, families are encouraged to enjoy a warm meal and a magical night in historic downtown Okmulgee.

— Chili Dinner to support CASA/Safehouse

The CASA/Safehouse Chili Dinner will take place from 4-9 p.m. at the First Baptist Gym, located at 313 W. 5th Street. Timed perfectly before and after the Festival of Lights Christmas Parade, the dinner provides a convenient and meaningful way to give back to local programs supporting children and families in crisis.

Adult meals are just $5, while children under five eat free. Each ticket includes a bowl of chili, drink and dessert – a comforting meal to kick off a night of holiday celebrations.

In addition to dinner, families can enjoy:

• Silent Auction

• Cookie Decorating

• Hot Cocoa Bar

• A Surprise Guest (perfect for photo-friendly holiday fun!) Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling 918-756-2549, or at the door the night of the event. All proceeds benefit the Okmulgee CASA/Safehouse programs, helping ensure a safer, more supportive environment for local children.

— Festival of Lights Parade set to illuminate downtown At 7 p.m., the community will gather downtown for the beloved Okmulgee Main Street Festival of Lights Parade, a sparkling tradition that brings thousands together each December.

This year’s parade promises:

• Dazzling floats covered in lights

• Marching bands and holiday music • Community groups and local businesses spreading cheer • A magical atmosphere up and down Morton Ave.

Spectators of all ages are invited to bundle up, bring their holiday spirit, and join in a night filled with twinkling lights, festive sounds and memories in the making.

For parade information, contact Okmulgee Main Street at director@okmulgeemainstreet.com or 918-7581015.

Whether you’re enjoying a bowl of chili with loved ones or lining the streets to watch the floats roll by, this night is designed to bring Okmulgee together in the brightest way possible.

Let’s light up downtown Okmulgee – and our community for a night to remember.
