The glow of the holiday season is about to light up historic downtown Okmulgee once again, as preparations are underway for the annual Okmulgee Main Street Festival of Lights Parade, set for Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m.
Each year, the beloved community tradition transforms Okmulgee’s downtown square into a dazzling winter wonderland complete with twinkling lights, festive floats, cheerful music and the joyful spirit of the holidays. Families from across Okmulgee County and beyond line the streets to celebrate together, ushering in the Christmas season with laughter and lights.
Organizers from Okmulgee Main Street are excited to announce that there’s still room for more parade participants. Local businesses, civic groups, churches, schools and individuals are all encouraged to get creative and join the lineup. Floats, decorated trucks and cars, marching bands and walking groups are all welcome to help fill downtown with the glow of holiday cheer.
“This event truly captures the heart of our community,” organizers stated. “Every float and smiling face adds something special to the experience. Whether you’re a first-timer or a returning favorite, we’d love for you to be part of this year’s parade.”
Anyone wishing to participate should contact the Okmulgee Main Street office to request a registration form, which must be submitted by Friday, Nov. 22, to secure a spot in the parade lineup.
For registration details or questions, participants can call 918-758-1015 or email director@okmulgeemainstreet. com. Let’s light up downtown Okmulgee together – and make this holiday season one to remember!
