As the Special Election for Morris Public Schools approaches, Okmulgee County Election Board Secretary Ashley Carnes urges all registered voters to verify their voting information using the State Election Board’s OK Voter Portal. Sample ballots for the Oct. 14 election are now available at the Okmulgee County Election Board office.
“If it’s been some time since you last voted, or if you have recently moved or changed your name, now is the time to ensure your registration information is current,” Carnes said. “We want everyone to have a positive experience at the polls. You can access the OK Voter Portal at oklahoma. gov/elections/ovp.” Carnes mentioned that voters who have moved to a different county or changed their name will need to submit a new Voter Registration Application. These applications are available at the County Election Board office or online at oklahoma.gov/elections.
Please note that any changes must be submitted no later than 25 days before the election. Changes submitted after Sept. 19 will be processed after the Oct. 14 election. Applicants whose registration forms are accepted will receive a new Voter Identification Card by mail, while those whose forms are rejected will be notified by letter.
Voters must be registered in the Morris Public Schools School District to vote in the Oct. 14 election. Living in Morris city limits or having a child that attends Morris Public Schools does not qualify a voter. Voters who encounter issues with their registration on Election Day can still cast a provisional ballot with a signed affidavit. Provisional ballots are verified and, if valid, counted after the election but before the official results are certified.
The Okmulgee County Election Board is located at 314 W 7th Street, Room 102 in Okmulgee. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Voters with questions can contact the County Election Board at 918-756-2365 or via email at OkmulgeeCounty@elections.ok.gov.
