The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation confirmed that 71-yearold Patretia Mathews, who had been missing since early August, was found dead in a rural area of Okmulgee County.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to investigate the suspicious disappearance of 71-yearold Patretia Matthews.
On Aug. 8, the Bristow Police Department received a missing person’s report regarding Matthews, who was last seen in Bristow. Matthews’ vehicle was later located in rural Okmulgee County, near the intersection of Jones Road and Webster Road, just south of Beggs.
As OSBI special agents continued their search, they discovered human remains on Sept. 3, a mile from where Matthews’ vehicle was located. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner positively identified the remains as Matthews. Her cause and manner of death is still being processed by the Medical Examiner’s Office at this time.
