Green Country Technology Center receives three-peat Gold Star recongition

Green Country Technology Center (GCTC) has once again earned the prestigious Oklahoma CareerTech Gold Star School distinction for 2025, marking the third consecutive year the district has received this honor. GCTC was one of only 21 technology centers across the state to be recognized this year.

The Gold Star School Award, presented annually by Oklahoma CareerTech, recognizes technology center districts that meet rigorous criteria in areas such as student achievement, program quality, business partnerships and community impact. This distinction celebrates districts that go above and beyond in offering exemplary programs designed to meet a broad spectrum of community and workforce needs.

“This recognition is a direct reflection of the hard work, dedication and passion of our instructors, staff and students,” Anthony Nieto, GCTC Marketing & Communications Coordinator, said. “Earning Gold Star status three years in a row shows that our commitment to excellence isn’t just a goal – it’s part of our culture here at GCTC.”

From industry-recognized training to career-focused student services, GCTC continues to provide innovative programs that prepare individuals for high-demand careers while supporting local workforce development. The Gold Star designation affirms the school’s ability to adapt to changing industry needs and maintain the highest educational standards. “The streak speaks volumes – not just about our standards, but about the relentless dedication of our team to deliver the very best for our students and community,” Nieto said. As GCTC celebrates this milestone, the district is also preparing to welcome students for the first day of the 2025-26 school year. Full-time programs begin Thursday, August 14, 2025, bringing a new wave of high school and adult students to campus.

“Our first day of school is always an exciting time, but this year it feels especially energizing as we celebrate our third consecutive Gold Star recognition,” said Roger King, GCTC Superintendent. “It’s the perfect reminder for our returning and incoming students that they’re stepping into a learning environment recognized statewide for excellence. This isn’t just about starting a school year – it’s about continuing a tradition of high standards and preparing students for success in life and in the workforce.”

Students entering GCTC this August can expect a wide range of hands-on learning opportunities, industry-driven curriculum and connections to local employers. Whether preparing for college, entering the workforce, or gaining new skills for career advancement, GCTC oHers programs designed to help students achieve their goals while meeting the needs of area businesses and industries.

The Gold Star School program was established to encourage continuous improvement among technology centers. To qualify, districts must demonstrate achievements in student performance, financial accountability, staff development and community partnerships – ensuring they provide exceptional value to both students and taxpayers.
