Lady Bulldogs tennis earns Academic Achievement
By Patrick Ford Editor

The Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs tennis team has earned statewide recognition for their excellence in the classroom. The team was recently honored with the Academic Achievement Award from the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA), recognizing their collective commitment to academic success.

Under the leadership of Coach Michelle Quinn, the Lady Bulldogs maintained an impressive 3.75 team GPA while balancing the demanding schedules of high school classes, concurrent college coursework, jobs, and after-school practices and matches.

“Anyone that knows me knows I place an emphasis on the Student part of Student- Athlete,” said Coach Quinn. “Today, I’m proud to say the Lady Dogs Tennis team was awarded the Academic Achievement Award from the OSSAA. These ladies carried a 3.75 GPA while playing sports, attending college courses, working jobs, going to high school, and tennis practice. Way to go, ladies. You’ve made your coach extremely proud!”

This recognition not only highlights the academic rigor maintained by the players but also reflects the strong culture of discipline and determination fostered within the program.

Coach Quinn, known throughout the district for her tireless dedication to student development, emphasized that the award goes beyond numbers. “It’s not just about the GPA – it’s about the growth, responsibility and maturity these girls have shown every day. Balancing academics, athletics, jobs and other responsibilities isn’t easy, but they made it look effortless.”

The OSSAA Academic Achievement Award is given to teams across Oklahoma whose members achieve and maintain a high standard of academic performance during their season. It is considered one of the top academic honors for high school sports teams in the state.

The Okmulgee community joins Coach Quinn in celebrating this exceptional accomplishment. These young women have proven that excellence isn’t limited to one arena – and that with dedication and heart, student-athletes can truly do it all.

Congratulations to the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs tennis team both champions on the court and scholars in the classroom.
