Lady Demons shine at Beggs Festival
By PATRICK FORD NEWS EDITOR

The Beggs Lady Demons softball team had an impressive showing at the Beggs Festival last week, securing three victories in as many games. With a combination of stellar pitching, strong defense and timely hitting, the Lady Demons emerged victorious against Oklahoma Union, Checotah, and Booker T. Washington.

— Beggs wins in thrilling walk-off against Oklahoma Union In a nail-biter on Thursday, the Lady Demons secured a 1-0 walk-off win over Oklahoma Union, thanks to a clutch double by Abigail Harmon in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game was a pitching duel, with both teams struggling to generate offense until Harmon’s hit finally broke the deadlock.

Addison Dossett was exceptional in the circle for Beggs, pitching a complete game and allowing only two hits while striking out 10 without issuing a walk. Her counterpart, T Yorman of Oklahoma Union, also delivered a strong performance, surrendering just one unearned run on two hits over two and two-thirds innings.

The Lady Demons’ defense was flawless, with no errors committed. Ruby Tenison anchored the defense, making 10 plays to keep Oklahoma Union off the scoreboard.

— Early lead propels Lady Demons to victory over Checotah In their second game on Thursday, the Lady Demons capitalized on an early lead to secure a 1-0 victory over Checotah. The game’s only run came in the first inning when Addison Dossett laid down a sacrifice bunt to score a run, giving Beggs a lead they would not relinquish.

Once again, Dossett was dominant in the circle, earning her second win of the day. She pitched five innings, allowing just two hits while striking out seven without walking a batter. Checotah’s pitcher, H Prince, also had a strong outing, striking out seven and allowing only one hit and one unearned run over four innings.

Offensively, Dossett led the Lady Demons with her sacrifice bunt, and Angel Aylor made an impact on the base paths, stealing two bases. The game was another defensive showcase for Beggs, who held on to their narrow lead with solid fielding.

— Beggs dominates Booker T.

Washington

The Lady Demons capped off their festival performance with a commanding 10-0 victory over Booker T. Washington on Saturday, highlighted by a third-inning inside-the-park grand slam from Haylee Baughn.

Baughn’s grand slam was part of a nine-run third inning that put the game out of reach for Booker T. Washington. The offensive explosion also included a two-run single by Abigail Harmon and a two-run double by Emma Trimble.

Dossett continued her dominance on the mound, pitching four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out six. The Lady Demons’ offense was led by Angel Aylor, who went 3-for-3 at the plate, and Trimble, who added two hits in three at-bats.

With these three victories, the Beggs Lady Demons showcased their potential as a formidable team this season. Their combination of strong pitching, disciplined defense, and timely hitting will make them a tough opponent for any team they face.
