Boys 4×100 Relay takes 3rd
The Okmulgee Invitational Track and Field Meet March 28 brought a variety of talented athletes from around the state to Harmon Field.
The annual meet was a success thanks to Coach Dwight Pankey and assistant coaches, along with many volunteers who assisted with the varying events.
In the Girls 4×100 Relay Finals, John Marshall High claimed the top spot, followed by Oklahoma City Douglass A team in second, and their B team in third place.
The Boys 4×100 Relay witnessed fierce competition, with John Marshall once again proving their dominance on the track, followed by Thomas Edison, and Okmulgee taking third place. Rounding out the top teams were Fort Gibson, Glenpool and Crossover Prep.
Notable performances included Katie Smith from Fort Gibson, who clinched victory in the Girls 100m Hurdles; Jaeden Johnson from Fort Gibson showcased his prowess in the Boys 110m Hurdles, leading his team to success.
The Okmulgee Bulldog tracksters placing were as follows:
Girls 100 Meters
OHS Senior Cora Love came in 8th with a time of 13.84; and Junior Sky Drone, 14th with a time of 14.48. The top spot was claimed by Chole Threatt of John Marshall with a time of 12.32.
— Boys 100 Meters
Sophomore Nolan Yates placed with a time of 11.81; Sophomores Javon Lang and Matty Wilson came in 19th and 20th with a time of 13.34 and 13.39 respectively; and Freshman Marcus McNeal placed 22nd with a time of 13.67.
John Marshall’s James Allen came in first a time of 11.18.
— 4×200 Relay
Okmulgee came away in 5th place in the Girls 4×200 Relay, as Douglass High School (A) took the top prize, followed by John Marshall, Douglass (B) and Thomas Edison, with Okmulgee rounding out the top five, with a time of 2:01.57.
— Boys 400 Meters
Freshman Marcus Jeffrey came in 5th with a time of 59:26; and Freshman Javion Lang placed 14th with a time of 1:09.22.
— Girls 200 Meters
Cora Love, 12th, 30:32; Junior Kalacee Rangel, 18th, 32.96. — Boys 200 Meters
Nolan Yates, 5th, 24.16; Trey Ross, 6th, 24.37; Keonte Youngblood, 16th, 27.32; and Javon Lang, 19th, 28.99.
– The field events added another dimension to the competition, with athletes showcasing their strength and precision. Peyton Sikes from Fort Gibson emerged victorious in the Girls Shot Put, while Terrance Caldwell from John Marshall displayed his prowess in the Boys Shot Put.

Shot Put
Kennedy Penn, 4th; Zariah Wilson, 6; Janiah Kingsmill, 18th, and Randi Jackson, 22nd.
Okmulgee’s Jorden Bolden came up second in the Boys Shot Put behind Terrance Caldwell of John Marshall. Other Bulldogs placing were Preston Powell, 8th; Michael Lewis, 10th, Scott Hood, 11th; Javon Lang, 13th.
— Girls Discus In the Girls Discus, Alayna Brown of Glenpool came in 1st, followed by Okmulgee freshman Zariah Wilson. Kennedy Penn of Okmulgee came in 9th; with Randi Jackson and Janiah Kingsmill in 16th and 17th place.
— Boys Discus
Jordan Bolden clinched third behind Cash Williams of Caney Valley and Landon Pangle of Glenpool. OHS Junior Scott Hood placed 5th; Marcus McNeal (9th grade) came in 7th; and senior Preston Powell, 12th.
-Harmon Stadium was set to host the Okmulgee Junior High Invitational Track Meet on Tuesday.
