Okmulgee County Emergency Management Report

Report from Jeffrey Moore, Okmulgee County Emergency Management

Monday: Attended BOCC Meeting, Spent the rest of the day at the office returning phone calls and emails from the weekend. Talked with citizen and engineer regarding building of driveway that crosses creek in District 2. Property is not located in floodplain and creek is not controlled by any agency. Engineer is going to call later in the week with plans and size of bridge being constructed on property to verify that there is no redirection of water and neighboring property will not be affected by water.

 

Tuesday: Was advised of structure fire in Henryetta. Was told fire was within city limits of Henryetta at time of notification was not requested to respond OCEM did not respond due to fire being within city limits of Henryetta. Contacted by dispatch later regarding resident that needed assistance was told all fire and police had left scene and OCEMS was there with resident. Advised dispatch to notify red cross for assistance. Spent day at office working on reports and going through documents.

 

Wednesday: Spent Wednesday at office working on Severe Weather Operations Plan. Worked on Safety Training for County. Reviewed other county’s drone program policies as well as response to various emergencies in their counties. Phone conversations with FAA, FCC regarding various issues.

Spoke with Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management regarding mitigation grant for storm sirens. There is less money at the state level began looking for alternate funding for remaining outdoor warning sirens.

 

Thursday: At office met with Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management Northeast Coordinator. Spoke about upcoming projects and vision for Okmulgee County Emergency Management. Notified of confidential personal issue and assisted. Spent the remaining time at office compiling reports and assisting OCCJA with academy, Spoke with resident in District 3 about Floodplain Issue. Contacted by builder regarding bridge being built on property in District 2 East of HWY 75 horn exceeds expectations of 100 year flood in area. Builder was told construction of bridge over creek is approved and size of horn will accommodate water.

 

Friday: Spent morning at Harlan Ford for service of 2022 Ford F250. While the vehicle was being services notified that two Camber Sleeve’s needed replaced. Vehicle had been pulling to the right and out of alignment. Friday Afternoon at office working on reports and remainder of afternoon took Kubota RTV from District 2 to Kubota for servicing and repair hydraulic leak. While at District 2 performed preventive maintenance and tested LED light tower all systems okay. Contacted by resident of District 2 regarding floodplain and flooding issue. Went to area to look at situation. Will follow up with citizen as well as ORB and U.S. Corps or Engineers regarding mitigation in area.
