Annual event to begin with elementary races
The annual Henryetta Invitational cross country meet is scheduled to take place this Saturday at historic Nichols Park.
The event will begin with the elementary races at 8:45 and 8:55 a.m., respectively, followed by the junior high races at 9:15 and 9:30 a.m., respectively.
The first four races will cover one mile in distance. There will be four races in the high school division beginning with the Class 2A varsity girls 2-mile race at 9:45 a.m.
The 2A varsity boys 5k race will follow at 10:05 a.m., while the Class 3A-4A girls 2-mile race and boys 5k races will take place at 10:30 and 11 a.m., respectively.
There will medals awarded to each elementary participant at the event, while the Top 25 runners in each of the junior high and high school races will receive medals. The high school races will also feature team champion and runner-up trophies in each division.
Schools that have not entered teams for the meet have until Friday at 12 p.m. to sign up for the event. After the deadline, there will be no further teams allowed to enter. Any team that is entered after Friday’s 12 p.m. deadline will not be allowed to compete – no exceptions. Prior to the first race, there will be a coaches meeting at 8:30 a.m.
