County Emergency Management seeks volunteers

Okmulgee County Emergency Management is excited to announce that they are currently accepting applications for dedicated volunteers to join their team.

Led by Jeffrey Moore, Director of Emergency Management, this unique opportunity invites individuals who are 18 years of age or older to actively participate in fostering a safer and more prepared community.

“As a volunteer for Okmulgee County Emergency Management, you will have the chance to engage in a variety of important duties and activites that directly impact the well-being of our community,” Moore said.

The duties include: 1. Community Events: Volunteers will actively participate in community events aimed at promoting safety and preparedness among residents. These events serve as an excellent platform for connecting with the community members and sharing vital information on emergency planning.

2. Public Education in Schools: One of the key aspects of emergency management is educating the younger generations about safety and preparedness. Volunteers will have the opportunity to visit schools in Okmulgee County and impart valuable knowledge on how to respond to emergencies.

3. Storm Spotting: Weather-related emergencies can be unpredictable, but with the help of dedicated storm spotters, we can stay ahead of severe weather threats. Volunteers will be trained to identify and report dangerous weather conditions to authorities promptly.

4. Responding to Incidents: Volunteers will play a crucial role in assisting with emergency responders’ efforts. This may involve distributing essential supplies, providing support to affected individuals, and aiding emergency personnel as needed.

For those interested in making a difference and contributing to the safety and well-being of Okmulgee County, please consider joining the team.

To learn more about the volunteer program and the application process, interested individuals can contact Okmulgee County Emergency Management at 918759-9984.

Applications are available in person at the Okmulgee County Emergency Management office, located at 110 N. Alabama Ave. in Okmulgee, or email jeff.moore@okmulgeecounty.gov.

“Don’t miss this chance to be a part of a dynamic team that plays a vital role in safeguarding our community,” Moore said.
