Improvements to the pergolas are underway at the Okmulgee Community Garden. According to Executive Director Bob Seebeck, the pergolas were built in 2012 and some of the wood has deteriorated due to weather and natural wear and tear. The project, funded via grant, is expected to be completed by the end of the month. The garden is located on Belmont Street just south of the Okmulgee County Health Department. Plots are available through an application process, and applications are available at the garden’s resource center (red building) or by contacting Seebeck. Although fruit and vegetables produced at the garden are the property of plot owners, surplus fruit and vegetables are frequently donated to local food pantries.
