FFA honors supporters with Honorary Degrees

The Okmulgee FFA recognized four individuals who have gone above and beyond in helping the program thrive and succeed as they received the Honorary Chapter FFA Degree during the Okmulgee FFA Chapter Banquet last week. The Okmulgee FFA Chapter officer team selected these individuals for this award.

• Erik Robinson – Robinson served as the 20212022 National FFA Southern Region Vice President where he personified what it meant to be a servant leader. He publically spread the message about Okmulgee FFA’s past as a New Farmers of America chapter at the National FFA Convention 2022 and continues to be a role model for thousands of FFA members nationwide. Robinson joined the banquet via Zoom and can be seen on the computer screen carried by Parker Larabee.

• Jolene Armstrong – Armstrong is one of the original members of the Okmulgee Ag Boosters group and has participated in every Ag Boosters function since 2018. She is among the first to arrive at events and among the last to leave after cleaning up. Her son, Alex, is graduating this year and Armstrong is retiring from Okmulgee Public Schools as the Primary School Librarian as well.

• Daryl Flanders – As the owner of T&D Meats Company, Flanders goes above and beyond to support many FFA chapters across the state, but we are especially thankful for him in Okmulgee. For the past two years, Mr. Flanders has served as the auctioneer for the annual Okmulgee Ag Boosters Pie & Silent Auction – bringing in more than $12,500 in those years. T&D Meats Company also holds an annual sheep livestock show, opening & closing ceremonies contest, and many other events that Okmulgee FFA members participate in each year.

• Stanley Sowder – At the drop of a hat, Mr. Sowder is the first to arrive whenever something at the AgEd Building is on the fritz, or to lend a hand to troubleshoot a stubborn piece of equipment in the shop. As a member of the Okmulgee Public Schools Maintenance Department, Sowder led the charge in renovating the AgEd program’s livestock trailer in order that it could haul our emerging livestock SAEs around the state.

Thank you, 2023 Honorary Chapter FFA Degree Recipients!
