Robert (Bob) Baxter of McAlester, passed away on March 2, 2021, at the age of 74. After several months of declining health, Bob died peacefully with his beloved wife Linda and their family by his side. Bob was born June 30, 1946, in Hereford, Texas, the son of Charlie and Marilou Baxter. After graduating college from Texas Tech University, Bob ran several ranches with family until he became the City Manager of Coalgate. Over the years, he was City Manager at Tishomingo, Okemah, and Okmulgee until his retirement five years ago. He spent the last few years as a real estate agent. He was a devout Christian and an active member of the United Methodist Church. He found joy in his participation in football throughout his life and stayed in contact with his teammates. He loved those that he worked within cities and communities where he lived and worked. Bob loved to tell a story, enjoyed intelligent conversations about current events and politics, and would always be found early in the morning drinking his coffee and reading the newspaper to start his day. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother Charles. He is survived by his wife Linda Baxter; children Clay Baxter (Kim), Shanelle Watts (John), and Sean Baxter (Michele); eight grandchildren; three great-children, brother Ken; and sister Wynell.
Lonny Leo Simonds, 70, of Okmulgee, passed from this life Saturday, February 27, 2021. Lonny was born December 25, 1950, in Tulsa, to Leo G. and Doris L. (Fox) Simonds.
Mary Rose “Rosemary” Presser was born March 4, 1927, to the late Dr. John and Mary Crews in Adamson. She passed away Friday evening, February 26, 2021, in Henryetta at 93 years of age.
Shelby Rene Abbott was born Tuesday, November 7, 2006, in Tulsa to Eric and Kimberly (Brill) Abbott. Shelby passed away Friday morning, February 26, 2021, at home in Morris. She was 14 years old.
James B. Coleman, 75, a maintenance worker, died Saturday, February 20, 2021. Services are Saturday, March 6, 2021, 11 a.m. Eastside Church of God in Christ, Okmulgee.
