Darla Jean Yocham
Darla Jean Yocham or “Mema” as her many grandchildren and great grandchildren called her, passed away Friday, September 4, 2020, in Morris at the age of 80 years old. Darla was born on April 27,
Darla was born on April 27, 1940, in Claremore to Leonard Poplin and Lucy (Chisholm) Poplin. Darla worked in tribal land and housing for several Native American Tribes before retiring from Quapaw Tribe at the age of 72 years old. She also loved to travel and take her grandchildren shopping whenever she had the chance.
Darla is preceded in death by her parents; step-father Roy Smith; one sister Virginia Foust; one brother Robert Smith; a son Michael (Mike) Yocham; and one nephew Tommy Matheny.
Darla is survived by daughter Jody Thombrugh of Morris; son Steve and wife Dana Yocham of Coweta; son-in-law Kevin Thombrugh of Muskogee; daughter-in-law Deanna Yocham of Haskell; son-in-law Louis Monday of Morris; sister Joyce Matheny of Okmulgee; fourteen grandchildren, Lindsey Golightly and husband Dustin of Morris, Holly Monday and fiance Ryan of Okmulgee, Kara Monday and boyfriend Travis of Morris, Colton Thombrugh and wife Rikki of Morris, Nikki Thombrugh and boyfriend Tim of Okmulgee, Ryan Yocham of Coweta, Bailey Renz of Coweta, Josh Yocham of Coweta, Reagan Hodgin of Coweta, Trae Hodgin of Coweta, Jackey Yocham and wife Kristan of Haskell, Shane Yocham of Haskell, Ben Brinlee of Haskell, Beau Brinlee of Haskell; twenty-three greatgrandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral and cremation services have been entrusted to Gary Kelley’s Add’Vantage Funeral Home in Tulsa. Darla’s family would like to give a big thank you to Gary and Thomas Kelley from Gary Kelley’s Add’Vantage Funeral Home, Muscogee Creek Nation Medical Center Nurses and Nursing Staff, and Carter’s Home Health and Hospice.
Private family service is planned for Sunday, September 13, 2020, at p.m. in Coweta.
