Delivering the goods
Have you ever gotten home from grocery shopping, then realize you forgot the most important thing you went there to get?
Most people either would get back in their car to make another trip, or try to do without until the next trip to the store.
That experience for one local husband and father led to the creation of a delivery service in the Okmulgee County area.
Ryan’s Delivery began operating in February. Owned by Ryan and his wife Alysha, the business offers multiple services.
“We offer transportation service, food delivery, grocery pickup, and also provide designated driver service with access to a party bus,” Ryan said.
Ryan’s Delivery is based in Henryetta, but encompasses Okmulgee and surrounding areas.
“We have been as far as Beggs, Morris, Okemah, Salem, and even Eufaula,” he said. “We are always looking to expand further and further.”
The service is available Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. Expanded hours are available on Friday and Saturday, from 8 a.m. until 3 a.m.
Ryan came up the the idea after being asked to return to the store to pick up a forgotten item.
“I’m a typical husband,” Ryan said, “in the evening time always having to go out and get things we’ve forgotten during the day. My wife wanted me to get something from the store and I didn’t want to go and she didn’t want to go and I just said we should have something like the bigger cities have for the convenience of ‘hey I want this, bring it to me.’”
Ryan thought about the idea then put his plan on Facebook to get some local reaction to the possibility of the service.
“It got really good response,” he said. “It’s got to the point where it’s too big to stop.”
There are currently five drivers, excluding Ryan and his wife.
Ryan runs the “party bus” around Henryetta for those wishing to visit various bars without driving.
That part of the transportation service is doing quite well.
“The designated driver service is close to me because I’ve got children, and have family out on the road,” Ryan said, “and if we can take one person that was planning on drinking, and the only other way to get home was to drive home, if I can get them off the road, I have a feeling that I have saved them and possibly other people from being injured or save their life.”
Ryan’s will also pickup up food orders items from local restaurants and deliver it to your residence, or pickup groceries from the store. Cost for delivery and transportation is $8, plus a tip to the driver.
Since Ryan’s Delivery is a third-party entity, the business works with restaurant owners to ensure you receive your food on time.
Ryan works with whatever restaurant the customers wants. The delivery service will work with the customer and businesses on payment.
Customers can send orders directly to Ryan’s Delivery, or contact the restaurant and then pay for the food, which they will then pick up and deliver.
“The best way is to reach out to me and I will handle all the orders since I know the easiest and the fastest way to get the service you need,“ Ryan said.
The owner also currently works with attorney’s in the Tulsa area who have clients in the county. Ryan’s Delivery will ensure the clients get to their necessary appoints, wait on them, and bring them back home.
The Whites are still working on making the business as efficient as possible, and look forward to growing even further and providing a much-needed service in the county.
