2020 Pecan Festival canceled, according to Chamber of Commerce
The 2020 Okmulgee Pecan Festival has been canceled out of consideration for public safety, according to the Chamber of Commerce. Members of the Pecan Festival Committee, along with the Chamber Board of Directors, moved forward with the decision to cancel Friday afternoon.
“This certainly isn’t something we want to do, but the safety of those attending the festival, along with the safety of our volunteers, vendors, committee members ... is our highest priority,” the Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce stated.
The Pecan Festival was slated for June 11-13 and will return in 2021. Activities ranged from a pet parade, the Great American Turtle Race and a Water Ball Challenge. Local arts and crafts vendors also set up booths each year at the Pecan Festival.
