Evelyn Brown

 August 12, 1938-June 2, 2018

Evelyn Brown, a longtime resident of the Dewar-Bartlett area passed away, Saturday, June 2 j, 2018, in Tulsa at the age of 79. She was born August 12, 1938, in Clinton, Ark. to Chester Tarkington & Tennie Pauline (Davis) Tarkington.  

Evelyn married William ‘Bill’ Brown  March 12, 1953, in Heber Springs, Ark. and to this union three children were born- Vicky, Billy, & Rusty. She was a member of Dewar First Baptist Church for many years. Evelyn worked for 38 years at Dewar Schools in the cafeteria, as school librarian, and also as elementary school secretary. Evelyn invested a great deal in the Dewar community and her ‘Dewar kids.’ She was known by many of the ‘Dewar kids’ either as Mom or mostly as ‘Granny Ev.’

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ricky D. Tarkington, Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Tarkington.

Deborah Teel

 October 5, 1949-May 31, 2018

Deborah Teel, 68, of Waco,Texas, formerly of Okmulgee, passed away, May 31, 2018, at Providence Hospice Place surrounded by her family and friends. Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 9, at Speegleville Baptist Church, 469 Speegle Rd, Waco, Texas, with Dr. Joe Bailey officiating. A memorial video, prepared by OakCrest Funeral Home, honoring her life will be shown during the service.

Deborah was born October 5, 1949, in Okmulgee to Dugan and Helen Knight. She graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1967 and married the love of her life, Bill, on August 2, 1969. Deborah worked for Citizen’s National Bank, First Baptist Church, and OSUIT childcare in Okmulgee before retiring to Waco. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, reading, needlepoint, and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dugan and Helen Knight.

Anne O. Fagan

June 18, 1929-May 24, 2018 

Anne O. Fagan was born on June 18, 1929, in Okmulgee to Edward C Fagan and Catharine (Arnold) Fagan. Anne was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Okmulgee.

Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. at McClendon-Winters Funeral Home, Okmulgee and Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018, at St Anthony Catholic Church Okmulgee.

In lieu of flowers, make a contribution to your favorite charity or to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Okmulgee.

Betty J. Grant

 December 29, 1932-May 28, 2018

"When you hear of my Home Going don't worry about me.”  Betty J. Grant, 85, retired educator from the Okmulgee Public School system went home to be with the Lord, in her home, Monday, May 28, 2018.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Warren G. Hurd Jr., Beaumont, Calif.; Edward Grant, James Grant Jr., and Steven Grant, all of Okmulgee; her daughters, June Marie Powell, Tulsa; and  Angela (James) Davis, Oklahoma City; one brother, Larry (Barbara) Massey and a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

A Home Going Service is scheduled, Saturday, June 2, 2018, 1 p.m., Church of the Living God, 1100 N. Osage Ave., Okmulgee, OK.  Interment will follow in Okmulgee Cemetery, Okmulgee, OK. Visitation will be Friday, 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Homes.

Christopher J'on Jackson

 July 25, 1970-May 29, 2018

Christopher J'on Jackson, 47, beloved son, husband and father went home to be with his Lord after a period of illness. Chris was born July 25, 1970, in Tahlequah to Jackie and Dianna Jackson.

Chris attended Okmulgee Schools graduating in May 1988. He furthered his education by attending Eastern Oklahoma State University in Wilburton on a baseball scholarship; transferring a year later to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

He enjoyed sports being a devoted fan of the Florida State Seminoles, Miami Dolphins and the New York Yankees.

He met Christina Renee Guthrie in 1993 and they were married on April 23, 1994. On July 25, 1995, they celebrated the birth of their daughter, Cassie Renee Jackson, who shares the same birth day as his. Their second child, Christopher Cheyenne Bruce Jackson was born October 6, 1999. His children brought joy and contentment into his life.

Anne O. Fagan

 June 18, 1929-May 24, 2018 

Anne was born on June 18, 1929, in Okmulgee to Edward C Fagan and Catharine (Arnold) Fagan. She received her education at St. Anthony School, graduating with the class of 1947. She continued her education at business school in Corpus Christi, Texas. She returned to Okmulgee and was employed at Oklahoma A & M Tech, now OSU Institute of Technology, retiring as manager of the book store.

Anne was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Okmulgee.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary E. Fagan;  brothers, Edward C. Fagan Jr. and William C. Fagan; nephews, Charles (Chuck) Fagan and John Fagan.

She is survived by one brother, James B Fagan of Bartlesville  several nieces and nephews.

Linda Carol Webb Wimbish

 February 4, 1957-May 27, 2018

Linda Carol Webb Wimbish, 61, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at her home in Okmulgee with her loving family by her side. Linda was born on February 4, 1957, in Natura to Nathan and Allowe Webb.

Linda was a simplistic woman and enjoyed the little things in life. She enjoyed taking care of her plants and vegetables. Most people would consider her to have a green thumb because she could make just about anything grow. She also enjoyed sitting outside and watching the birds in her bird feeder. Linda also adored her family and would spend as much time as she could with them any chance she got.

Joyce J. Ferry

 June 5, 1937-May 22, 2018

 On May 22, 2018, Joyce J. Ferry went to be in glory with the Lord. She was born to the late Helen (Craig) Wilson and Don Goff in Okmulgee on June 5, 1937. Joyce loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. She always thought of others. Joyce loved children and had her own daycare in Okmulgee and Atoka in a time span of 22 years. Joyce’s two lifelong friends Jack Catlett and Ann Jacob will truly miss her. 

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Fredirick F. Ferry; mother Helen Wilson; daughter Betty Hightower; and son Johnny Wallace. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Sims and husband John, Barbara Martinez and husband Gregorio Martinez-Pagan, Michelle Scoggins and husband Billy; eight grandchildren Lisa, Junito, Athetha, Michael, Alex, Dominic, Ashonda, and Cory; nineteen great grandchildren; and thirteen great great grandchildren.

 James Everett Goswick, 83, of Fort Gibson, was born in Tulsa to Thomas and Margaret (Fondren) Goswick and entered Heaven’s Gates on Saturday, May 26, 2018, in Muskogee with his loving family by his side.
