Marlene Anita (Evans) Stewart

Marlene Anita (Evans) Stewart passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at her home in Wellington, Kansas at the age of 67.

Marlene was born the daughter of Franklin Aubrey and Juanita Jane (Davison) Evans on Wednesday, January 11, 1950, in Okmulgee. She graduated from Okmulgee High School. Following high school, she graduated from what is now known as the Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology. While there, she met Joe Stewart. On November 11, 1970, Marlene and Joseph D. Stewart were united in marriage in Okmulgee. Together, they celebrated 47 years of marriage. Joe's career took the couple to Houston, Texas where their children were born. They lived in Houston for 12 years and later moved to Abilene, Texas for 13 years. They finally moved to Wellington, Kansas to be closer to their families and have made this their home since 1995. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church.

Michael Otis Bennett

Michael Otis Bennett, 65 year old resident of Okmulgee, passed away Sunday evening, December 17, 2017, in Okmulgee. Mike was born July 31, 1952, in Okmulgee, to the late Daniel Eugene and Pauline Ruby (Moore) Bennett.  He enjoyed playing the stock market, watching deer and wildlife and gopher hunting.  Mike was an avid OU fan and worked for many years in a refinery.  He recently had a renewed love for life and had a strong relationship with God.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Bennett and Pauline Blake; brother, Danny Bennett; sister, Paula Bennett; and a granddaughter, Yannah Coker. Survivors include his daughter, Michelle Coker; a son, Joshua Bennett; grandchildren, Kaylee Coker, Kyle Coker, Bailee Bennett, Haven Thomas ;a sister, Brenda Reed; and his girlfriend, Trish St. John.

Matthew Ray Crosslin

 

December 19, 1990 - December 14, 2017

Matthew Ray Crosslin passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 26 years of age.  He was born December 19, 1990, in Oklahoma City to Jimmy Don and Sharron Lynne (Daniels) Crosslin. Matt graduated from Morris High School in 2009. He loved playing the guitar and was a member of several bands over the years.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles and being with friends, especially spending time with Shelby.  Matt was a member of the Town and Country Christian Church.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Marine Daniels.  

Survivors include his parents, Jimmy and Sharron Crosslin; siblings, Melinda Reeves and husband Eric, David Crosslin and Jason Crosslin; his best friend, Shelby and their son, Wilder; niece and nephew, Jace and Joy; maternal grandmother, Freida Daniels; paternal grandparents, Jimmy Crosslin and Donna Cannon; and many other loving family members and friends.

John Lee Britt, a longtime resident of the Hoffman and Dewar area, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, in Henryetta at the age of 75.  John was born on May 1, 1942, in Hanna, to Charlie Monroe Britt and Ishmael (Jones) Britt.

Wayne Harry Hemphill

Wayne Harry Hemphill died Saturday, December 9, 2017, at his residence. He was the husband of Tommie (Orman) Hemphill. They were married April 20, 2013, but have been together since 1998. Wayne was born in Oklahoma City,  on October 13, 1942. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Darrell Eugene Tanner

 

December 14, 1940 - December 8, 2017

Darrell Eugene Tanner passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017, at his home at the age of 76. He was born on Saturday, December 14, 1940, to the late William and Juanita (Pruitt) Tanner in Morris. 

Darrell graduated from Liberty Morris in 1958 and married Trula (Godwin) on August 8, 1958, in Okmulgee. They moved to Davenport, Iowa in 1959. Darrell and Trula had five children. He was baptized at 33 years old in the Southern Baptist Church. He worked for JI Case as a Machinist until he retired at the age of 65. Darrell later moved back to Oklahoma to his hometown of Okmulgee in 2014. 

Darrell enjoyed rebuilding old cars, playing cards, and tinkering in his yard. Every morning he would read his newspaper.

Elizabeth "Libby" Ann (Blackmon) Gragg, 77, a longtime resident of Henryetta,  passed away on December 9, 2017. She was born on April 9, 1940, in Henryetta, to Charles and Helen Blackmon. She was a 1958 graduate of Henryetta High School where she was a multi-year cheerleader for the Henryetta High School sports teams. She attended Central State College in Edmond, and later was a registered Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at various medical facilities throughout her medical career. She was also a fabulous dancer and taught dancing professionally for several years in Oklahoma City and in Dallas, Texas. She was preceeded in death by her parents, father Charles "Peanie" Blackmon and mother Helen Blackmon.
