Obituary - June England

June N. England, a longtime resident of Hoffman, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in Okmulgee at the age of 57. June was born on January 12, 1961 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Glenn England and Juanita (Kaler) England. 

June grew up in this area and briefly attended school at Morris. She worked for over 20 years at Options recycling center. She was a deeply loved and longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Hoffman and was an honorary member of the First Baptist Church of Morris. June loved to look at books, thoroughly enjoyed a snack of M&M's often, and was a loved by her family. June was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt and she will be missed by the many people who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Kaler England; her father, Glenn England; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

David Leon Modlin

December 3, 1935-June 12, 2018

David Leon Modlin, 82 years old, passed away in Tulsa on Tuesday evening June 12, 2018. David was born to the late Robert and Ilene Modlin in Manhattan Beach, Calif. on December 3, 1935. He married Hiroko 'Coco' (Matsushima) in San Diego, Calif. on July 31, 1978. David retired from the United States Marine Corp. He enjoyed fishing and camping. David was a member of the VFW.

A graveside service for David will be held at the Okmulgee Cemetery Veteran's Circle on Friday, June 15, 2018, at 10 a.m. with Chaplain Carl Neal to officiate. Interment will follow. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

Alma Ruth Churchill

June 22, 1940-June 11, 2018

Alma Ruth Churchill was born on Saturday, June 22, 1940, in Sacramento, Calif. to the late Olive Irene (Brewer) Clayton and Lloyd Stevens. Alma passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018, at her home. She was 77 years old. While in California, Alma was a foster parents to many children and was a licensed cosmetologist. She later moved to Oklahoma in 1973 to be closer to her family because she was the matriarch of her family and loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Alma enjoyed fishing and camping outdoors. 

Alma is preceded in death by her parents, sister Deborah Weekly, and brother James Cliff Clayton. Left to cherish all of the wonderful memories of Alma is her daughter Amy Sweet and husband Loren of Henryetta; grandchildren, Aaron Culley and wife Sarah of Glenpool; Chad Culley and wife Nyeila of Tulsa, Brent Churchill and wife Kayla; eleven great grandchildren; and sister Lois Ramsey of Okmulgee.

Alexander Goudeau

 September 30, 1931-June 12, 2018

Alexander Goudeau was born on September 30, 1931, in Beggs to Gostil and Cecil Mae Goudeau. He was the oldest of nine children. His parents, one sister and four brothers preceded him in death.  He attended Morning Star and Wheatley Schools.  

He married Mary Louise Carrethers on September 27, 1952. They were married for almost 66 years.  They were blessed with nine children.  

Alex worked construction until his health failed. He also loved fishing and hunting. He was dedicated to his family. He was very generous and willing to help everyone whenever he could.

Samantha Jane (McIntosh) Clark

 September 29, 1986-June 11, 2018

Samantha Jane (McIntosh) Clark passed away peacefully at her mother's home on June 11, 2018. She was 31 years old. Sami was born on September 29, 1986, in Ada to Jennifer (Schicke) Pearce and Rocky McIntosh.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Abe McIntosh; maternal grandmother, Claudette Leach; and step father, Pat Pearce.

Sami graduated from Okmulgee High School with the class of 2005.  She enjoyed reading, doing crafts, rock tumbling, casino gaming and most of all shopping.  Sami fought the disease lupus for over half of her lifetime but she always had a smile on her face and would always help others she felt were less fortunate in any way she could. She really enjoyed spending time with her family.

Martha Gentry Bryant (Science)

January 3, 1946-June 10, 2018

Martha Gentry Bryant was born January 3, 1946, in Hampton, Va. She lost her battle with Pick’s Disease June 10, 2018, at her home in Okmulgee.

Martha was a lifelong learner and science educator. She graduated from Ferguson High in Newport News, Va. in 1964. She was an outstanding student, class officer, and a teen-editor for the city paper.

Clifford G. Redd

 March 11, 1944-May 22, 2018

Clifford G. Redd,  74, bulk truck driver, a resident of Los Angeles, Calif. and formerly of Okmulgee transitioned, May 22, 2018, in Los Angeles, Calif.

Clifford is survived by his son, Clifford Redd, Jr. of Hanford, Calif. and daughter, Kapiolani Redd of Los Angeles, Calif. He is also survived by siblings Rosa Rembert (Orrin), Levada Redd, Roy Redd, George Redd and Sharon Redd Gregg (Tommie), along with a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 9, 2018, 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, located at 1029 N. Sioux Street, in Okmulgee. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Okmulgee. Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Homes.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Glida Jean Wells will be held at 1:30 Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Dove Ministry in Jenks. Graveside service will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery.

Glida Jean Wells, 97, passed away at The Gardens Nursing Home in Sapulpa on May 31, 2018. She was born in Steve, Ark. to Samuel and Emma (Crawford) Marshall. Jean married the love of her life, Loyal Wells on June 2, 1939, in Oklahoma City.
