Anita  Louise Howe

Anita  Louise Howe, 79, of Okmulgee, died Friday, June 16, 2017, at Hillcrest Medical Center South in Tulsa. 

Anita  was born in Muskogee, on August 23, 1937, a daughter of the late Nora Dalphne (Stange) and James Leroy Abel.

No public service is planned at this time.  Memorial contributions may be sent to the Okmulgee Humane Society.

Dr. Robert (Bob) Hasselman, longtime Okmulgee resident, died Saturday, June 17, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa at 78 years of age.

Jessie Mae Carson

Jessie Mae Carson

March 21, 1927 - June 21, 2017

Jessie Mae Carson, 90, of Hitchita, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at her home.  Jessie was born on March 21, 1927, in Hoffman, the daughter of Hector and Birdie (Brandon) Potts. She attended school at Hitchita.  

On March 9, 1943, Jessie married John H. Carson in Henryetta. She worked as a seamstress at White Stag for twenty-five years in Checotah. She also worked at the Henryetta Hospital.  Jessie loved to read, walk and help people.  She also enjoyed traveling, gardening and listening to gospel music.  Her favorite color was red.  Momma enjoyed spending time walking with very loving, caring friends that were more like family to us all Rhonda, Paulette, LeeAnn and many others along the way.

Delmer Jay Johnson

Delmer Jay Johnson

May 3, 1926 - June 21, 2017

Delmer Jay Johnson, 91, longtime resident of Okmulgee, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the V.A. Center in Norman, Oklahoma. He was born May 3, 1926, to J. H. Johnson and Pasha A. (Edson) in Okmulgee. Delmer was a veteran of the United States Army and was of the Assembly of God faith. He owned a taxi service in Okmulgee and drove a taxi for many years.

Survivors include two brothers, Delbert Johnson and Burley Johnson; sister, Kathelene Kelly of Okmulgee; and a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by three sisters, Patsy Ann Baldridge in May of 2017, Beulah Mae Mathis in October of 2016, and Marilee Lee in 1998.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Add'Vantage Funeral Service Chapel.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at the Schulter Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Hoffman Cemetery. Dr. Robert (Bob) W. Hasselman

Dr. Robert (Bob) W. Hasselman

June 10, 1939 – June 17, 2017

Dr. Robert (Bob) Hasselman, longtime Okmulgee resident, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa at 78 years of age. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 10, 1939, to the late Dr. W.L. Hasselman and Margaret (Nell) Hasselman.

Dr. Bob attended Okmulgee High School where he met the love of his life and soul mate, Mary Lou Thornburgh. He was recognized in high school for his athletic abilities and received All-State Honors in Baseball, All- Conference Basketball and Honorable Mention All-State Football. He later attended Southern Methodist University and Oklahoma State University before obtaining his medical degree at Kansas City University of Osteopathic Medicine in 1965. He interned in Tulsa before returning to Okmulgee to join his father’s medical practice.

Lydia D. Mitchell

August 23, 1946 - June 14, 2017

Lydia D. (Liley) Mitchell, longtime Beggs resident, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at 70 years of age.  She was born August 23, 1946, in Tulsa to the late William James “Jim” Liley and Willa Deene (Lofton) Liley. She graduated from McClain High School and in April 1973, married Junior Mitchell.  Lydia served on the Beggs School Board for 22 years and was a 4-H sponsor for many years. She enjoyed painting and flower gardening, and had owned a ceramics and pottery shop.  Lydia was the family genealogist. She was known for her love of dogs and cats and was a Coca Cola memorabilia collector even though her drink of choice was Dr. Pepper.

Lydia was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Eddie Mitchell.

Jacob Hill, a longtime area resident, died June 10, 2017, in Henryetta at the age of 68. 

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at Integrity Chapel on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, with Rev. Wallace Gambler and Rev. Phillip Harjo officiating. Burial will follow immediately at the Hill Family Cemetery near Dustin under the direction of Integrity Funeral Service of Henryetta.

Hazel Louise Wilson, a resident of Henryetta, died Friday, June 9, 2017, in Henryetta at the age of 84.

Carol Ann Timmons Hull

 

January 21, 1935 - June 11, 2017

Carol Hull went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday June 11, 2017, at the age of 82 years after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  

She  was born January 21, 1935, in Oklahoma City to Loren and Xenia Timmons. She was graduated from Northwest Classen High School class of 1953 and attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater where she met her future husband JJ Hull Jr. of Beggs. 

Carol and Jim were married on November 7, 1954, in Oklahoma City and made their home on the Hull family ranch in Beggs. 

Their union was blessed with three sons James J. Hull III, William Loren Hull and John Michael Hull. 

She enjoyed attending OSU football games for many years with her husband, sons and good friend Joan Eaton.

Harold Motte

Harold Motte

April 28, 1947 - June 2, 2017

“Reflections of Harold……”

 On April 28, 1947, the first born son came into the world to John and Maurine Motte.  They named their son Harold.

 Harold was of the Catholic Faith. At a later time, Harold united with the Eastside Baptist Church, Haskell, Oklahoma.

 Harold attended and graduated from the Dunbar High School in 1965.  Upon graduation, Harold joined the United States Air Force, serving honorably in Vietnam from 1965-1967. He became a member of the United States Army Reserve as Drill Sergeant from 1985-1987.

 Harold retired from the Oklahoma State University of Technology after thirty-three (33) years of service.
