Maudie Lou Harrington

September 24, 1926-July 18, 2018

Maudie Lou Harrington, 91-year-old, longtime resident of Okmulgee, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, in Okmulgee. The daughter of Charley E. and Mila (Anthony) Speer, she was born September 24, 1926, in Mason. 

Maudie worked as a cashier for Warehouse Market for 20 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Okmulgee and was president of the W.M.'s women's ministry for 14 years. Maudie enjoyed quilting, yard work and baking.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; two brothers; and her husband, Paris Harrington in 1999.

Survivors include three nephews, William Wailes (Debra) of Bartlesville, Chuck Buckner of Checotah, and Dennis Orr (Brook) of San Antonio, Texas; and one niece, Rita Sweet (Earl) of Tulsa.

Visitation  will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Add'Vantage Funeral Service Chapel.

Funeral services for Rev. Bridge Chuckluck Jr., 76 of Tahlequah, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018, at the Cherokee Baptist Association-Tahlequah. Rev. Chuckluck passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018. 

Services are under the direction of the Shipman’s Funeral and Cremation Service of Pryor.

September 21, 1933-July 12, 2018

Nathaniel J. Jones Jr., 84, a resident of Okmulgee, transitioned, Thursday, July 12, 2018, in his home. A U.S. Navy veteran, jazz musician, and retired custodian, he also loved playing dominoes.

 Preceding him death are his parents, wife, and two sons.

 He leaves to cherish precious memories, a son, Keith J. Baldwin Jones, Broken Arrow; four daughters, LaVone Moore, Houston, Texas; Demetrice (Terry) Tuggle, Okmulgee; Rhonda Simpson, Atlanta, Ga.; Sylvia (Bryan) Cooper, Plano, Texas; a brother, Cordell (Marie) Jones, Okmulgee.  

A service of memory will be held, Saturday, July 21 in the House of Winn Funeral Home chapel at 10 a.m. with chaplain John Taylor, eulogizing. Interment will follow in Woodlawn cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.

 The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home-Okmulgee.


Matthew James Maxwell

June 20, 1968-July 15, 2018

Matthew James Maxwell passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018. He was 50 years old. Matt was born to Robert James Maxwell and Sandra (Bailey) Compton in Alva, Oklahoma on June 20, 1968. 

God, family, and friends are what kept Matt going daily. He loved his kids dearly. Matt enjoyed going to the casinos and gambling, designing flower beds with his landscaping business, hunting deer, raising chickens and fishing. He was employed by the Okmulgee Fire Department for 10 years, was a member of the Cornerstone Foursquare Church in Okmulgee for over 15 years and was a member of the Elks Lodge. Preceding Matt in death is his father, Robert James Maxwell; dad, Carol Wilson; and sister-in-law, Janice Sparks.

Anna Lucille Edmonds passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018, in Muskogee. She was 81 years old. Lucille was born to the late Homer and Ellen (Howell) Treat on November 26, 1936, in Liberty. She married Dale Lester Edmonds on November 26, 1954, in Okmulgee. Lucille enjoyed sewing and gardening. She and Dale loved to travel the world. She was a member of the Dewar Baptist Church for several years. Preceding Lucille in death are her parents; brothers, Eugene, David and Bill Treat; sisters, Pat Smith and Barbara Loague.


Tim Smith

November 24, 1922-July 10, 2018

Tim Smith passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at the Jack C. Montgomery Veteran’s Medical Center in Muskogee at the age of 95. Tim was born November 24, 1922, near Natura, one of 10 children born to John and Oma (Hester) Smith. He graduated from Okemah High School.

Tim served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army as a Mess Sargent on Navy Ships. He was stationed in San Francisco, Calif. and made tours around Guam and the Hawaiian Islands. He met his wife, Dorothy Virginia Petty in California and they married on December 13, 1943. She preceded him in death on October 27, 1982.

Norma Louise (Sullins) Young

Norma Louise (Sullins) Young was born on May 4, 1942, in Okmulgee to Jesse Edward Sullins and Norma Lee (Powers) Sullins. She passed from this life on June 29, 2018, at her home in Haskell at the age of 76 years, one month, and 25 days. 

Louise lived the past several years in Haskell, and prior to that she attended school in Eram. She lived many years in the Eram and Morris area. 

While attending school, Norma Louise loved playing basketball. She played on both the girl’s and boy’s teams. 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (Nanny), and great-grandmother to her family. Louise was a licensed CMA and truly loved working with and caring for the elderly at Highland Park Manor in Okmulgee and other nursing facilities. 

Her hobbies included fishing, watching cooking shows, traveling and spoiling her grandchildren.
