Dennis “Hoot” Floyd Sharp, resident of Haskell, died Thursday, August 17, 2017, at his home.  Services will be 2 p.m.  Monday, August 21, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Morris. Interment will follow in the Morris Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Morris.

Perry Gale Felkins

 

January 26, 1938 - August 10, 2017

Perry Gale Felkins, 79, of Morris, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 10, 2017, at Highland Park Manor in Okmulgee. 

Perry was born in Stonewall on January 26, 1938, a son of the late Verna Venneta (Volyes) and Lester Ray Felkins. He attended college and served from 1957 to 1961 as a Sgt. in the 180th Infantry Regimen of 45th Division Oklahoma National Guard.  Perry was married to Terry (Carl) Felkins for 33 years. Before retirement Perry spent 35 years as an Inspector for Soil Conservation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Perry was interested in history, church activities, and raising and showing horses.  You could find him camping at the Marval Campgrounds or at any gun and knife show unless the grandkids had an activity and then grandpa was there.

Darrel Lee Pyeatt

 

November 4, 1941 - August 10, 2017

Darrel Lee Pyeatt, 75, stepped into eternity on August 10, 2017, in Seminole. The son of J.D. and Jewel Pyeatt, he was born on a ranch in Leedey. He spent his early years competing in team roping in local rodeos. He was preceded in life by his beloved wife of 46 years, Sheila Pyeatt. He is survived by his sons, Dustin and his wife Karee and Donald and his wife Deanne. 

A graduate of Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, Darrel spent his career as an electrical engineer and contractor. 

Darrel was a devoted husband and father, a cowboy and a bed rock of wisdom and kindness to all who knew him. 

 A graveside service for Darrel was held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 14, 2017, at the Okmulgee Cemetery with Father Joshua Litwack officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

Death Notice-Perry Gale Felkins

Eldon Gene Johnson

 

April 30, 1933 - August 10, 2017

Eldon Gene Johnson, 84, of Beggs, peacefully passed away on August 10, 2017, in Tulsa. He was born in Balko, to Gus and Luella Johnson on April 30, 1933.  He lived on a farm in Laverne, where he later graduated from Laverne High School.    

Eldon met his bride-to-be, Eva Louise Damron, in Woodward.  They fell in love and were married on Feb. 21, 1953. Eldon served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.  He was stationed in Tacoma, Wash., and later in Paris, France.  He drove an Army ambulance while in France.  After release from the Army, Eldon and Louise resided in Woodward.  They raised three children, Rita, Ronda, and Chris.  He was an active member in the Woodward Assembly of God and served as treasurer and deacon for many years.

Robert ‘Bob’ Paul Hess

April 1, 1932 - August 13, 2017

A memorial service for Robert “Bob” Paul Hess, 85, Okmulgee, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 18 at First Christian Church in Okmulgee with Reverend Charlie Green officiating. Services will be conducted by McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

Bob died Sunday morning, August 13, 2017, at his home surrounded by family.

Oscar Joseph Gray

July 29, 2017

Oscar Joseph Gray, 80, of Beggs,  passed peacefully from this earth on July 29, 2017.  He is mourned by family and friends.  A memorial service will be held at Jubilee Christian Center in Okmulgee on August 26th at 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggest you take a loved one to lunch in his honor.

Jaclynn Birge

Jaclynn Birge

April 15, 1989 - July 31, 2017

Jaclynn "Jackie" Birge, 28, of Okmulgee, gained her wings to fly high on Monday, July 31, 2017.

Jackie was born April 15, 1989, in Austin, Texas. She attended Lockhart I.S.D and Bastrop I.S.D. She moved to Okmulgee August 1, 2009, where she met many friends and touched their hearts as she did wherever she went. Her blue eyes and smile could brighten up any room. She completed her veterinary assistant in Okmulgee and was regrouping to complete her internship when tragedy struck. Her Dad told me, "She may have taken a wrong path in life but God had a bigger and better plan for her. Maybe he called her home to discuss these plans and give her a do over.”

James Llittlejohn, Jr.

 

August 2, 1940 - August 4, 2017

Mr. James Littlejohn, Jr. after 77 years, transitioned to Eternal Rest on August 4, 2017,. in Okmulgee.

James Littlejohn Jr. was born August 2, 1940, to James (Jim) Littlejohn, Sr. and Rosie Pollard Littlejohn.  "Junior," as his family lovingly called him, was raised in the Bald Hill area of Okmulgee County.

As a young man he moved to Tulsa with his family, where he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School with  the Class of 1960. James was very adventurous and wore many hats during his lifetime.

Stephen Ray Whiteley

 

March 9, 1952 - August 4, 2017

Stephen Ray Whiteley, 65, of Broken Arrow, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017, in Tulsa. 

Stephen was born on March 9, 1952, in Okmulgee,  to Alma Mae (Riggs) Whiteley and Lloyd Whiteley.  After graduating from high school, he attended trade school.  Steve served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a staking engineer with East Central Electric Co-op, until his retirement. He married Patricia Keith on July 3, 1993, in Tulsa.  Watching his favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt, race was one of his favorite hobbies. He also loved a delicious steak, spending time outdoors, shooting firearms, and his most treasured time was being with his family.

Stephen is preceded in death by his parents Alma Mae and Lloyd Whiteley; brothers, David Whiteley and Jim Whiteley.
