Lady Knights blank Lady Pirates in 2018 opener

PRESTON - The Preston Lady Pirates hosted their Okmulgee County rivals, the Henryetta Lady Knights, in their 2018 fastpitch softball opener Monday evening at the Jim Waller Sports Complex.

The visting Lady Knights erupted for 11 runs in the third and fourth innings to turn a 2-0 lead into a 13-0 season-opening victory.

The county teams were back in action on Tuesday with road games. Preston traveled to Weleetka for a 4:30 p.m. showdown with the Weleetka Lady Outlaws, while Henryetta was in Okmulgee for a county meeting with the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs.

Preston and Henryetta will be in Beggs this weekend, competing in the annual Beggs Fastpitch Softball Festival.

In Monday's season opener, the visitors opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the first. The first run of the new season came on an RBI groundout by Avery Miller. The second HHS run of the frame came on a 2-out RBI single to left by Lexi Lollis.
