Norma Louise (Sullins) Young

Norma Louise (Sullins) Young was born on May 4, 1942, in Okmulgee to Jesse Edward Sullins and Norma Lee (Powers) Sullins. She passed from this life on June 29, 2018, at her home in Haskell at the age of 76 years, one month, and 25 days. 

Louise lived the past several years in Haskell, and prior to that she attended school in Eram. She lived many years in the Eram and Morris area. 

While attending school, Norma Louise loved playing basketball. She played on both the girl’s and boy’s teams. 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (Nanny), and great-grandmother to her family. Louise was a licensed CMA and truly loved working with and caring for the elderly at Highland Park Manor in Okmulgee and other nursing facilities. 

Her hobbies included fishing, watching cooking shows, traveling and spoiling her grandchildren. 

She is proceeded in death by her parents; one grandson, Brandon Brunson, whom she adored; and eight siblings. 

Louise, lovingly known as Lucy by the love of her life, is survived by her loving husband, Arley Lee Young of almost 62 years. They were married on Aug. 25, 1956, in Morris. 

She was also survived by three daughters, Jackie Ward and husband Phillip of Haskell, Shela VanNess and husband Gary of Owasso, and Robin Mattingly and husband John of Haskell; one son, Billy Joe Young of Morris; two sisters, Hazel Janell of Tulsa and Rowena Joy Pomeroy of Muskogee; three brothers, Edward Sullins of Morris, Sonny (Lester) Sullins of Sherman, Texas, and Ray Sullins of Hoffman; seven grandchildren, Lacie Marvel, Jason Young, Amber Young, Jenny Devecesry, David John Mattingly Jr., Buck VanNess and Thomas VanNess; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many longtime friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
