Grayson hosting 50th Wildcat Junction Rodeo Saturday

This year will mark the 50th anniversary of the Wildcat Junction Rodeo in Grayson.  The rodeo is Saturday, July 14 at 7:30 p.m. The arena is located seven miles south of Morris on Hwy. 52. Free barbecue (pulled pork, potato salad and beans) with the $10 paid admission will be given.

The rodeo is full of family fun for everyone. The events include Tie Down Roping, Steer Wrestling, Bull Riding, Team Roping, Ladies Barrel Racing and OO Roping.

Added attractions are Muttin’ Bustin’, Jr. Barrel Racing, Steering Riding, Ribbon Roping and Pony Express. There is $2,500 added money to these rodeo events.

Elvert Celestine is the producer and has worked to keep the rodeo going for many years.

Over the years, Celestine has worked with partners Oliver Williams and his brother Ervin Williams, along with Oliver’s son Wendell Williams. Though the Williams men are all deceased, Celestine is still working to keep the event going.
