A Season to Forget

Henryetta tailback Avery Moore (25) attempts to elude the grasp of a Haskell defender during a September 29, 2017, District 2A-5 battle in Haskell. Moore and the Knights ended an 8-game losing streak with a 40-26 victory over the host Haymakers in the district opener.

The Henryetta Golden Knight varsity football team will begin the 2018 campaign August 31 at home against their arch rivals - the Morris Eagles.

Morris has taken the last two meetings, defeating the Knights 22-18 in 2016 and 21-12 last season. The last time Henryetta dropped three straight battles to its arch rival was 2011-2013 - the final three games of a 6-game winning streak for the Eagles in the county meeting.

The Knights will be looking to erase the bad taste of their dismal 1-9 record in 2017, which snapped a 2-year streak of playoff appearances for the HHS squad. The last time Henryetta failed to make the postseason in back-to-back seasons were the 2013 and 2014 seasons when the Knights finished a combined 6-14.
