“I have served on the School Board since 2010 and have been a part of many wonderful changes throughout the district. We have upgraded our facilities, which I feel are some of the best in the state, improved our fleet and transportation, and redefined our image.  Although many of these things do not correlate directly with academics, it does create a sense of pride to our students as well as our community.  Over the last two years, we have tripled the number of students making a 19 or better on the ACT and have increased our 3rd grade reading scores by 20 percent.  If re-elected to the board, I would like to work with the other members to continue to increase our standards at OPS.  Although we have been faced with many financial cuts, we must be creative and diligent in providing for our students.  Increasing our rigor to assure that every student is college and/or career ready after graduation is a huge goal of mine.

I believe that we must strengthen our parental and community involvement in all areas of our schools as well as continuing to work with the plant managers in the area.  Providing quality training to staff members in need could be beneficial increasing our standards.  I would also like to look at the pay scale and become a more competitive compensating district in the area.

Lastly, as a board member, I want to assure that all students have an opportunity to receive a quality education.  With all this in mind, I feel I am the most qualified candidate to serve you on the Okmulgee School Board, February 13th Re-Elect Mark Tuggle.  Pushing Forward With Progress.”
