Lady Knights suffer back-to-back road setbacks

The Henryetta Lady Knights suffered a pair of road setbacks last weekend to sit at 1-16 on the year with four games remaining in the regular season.

The Lady Knights dropped their fifth-straight game last Thursday, as they found themselves on the short end of a 50-19 decision to the Stigler Lady Panthers. The losing streak reached six games last Friday with a 54-14 loss to the Eufaula Lady Ironheads.

The Henryetta ladies were back in action on Tuesday with a home game against the Kellyville Lady Ponies. Following the home battle with Kellyville, the Lady Knights will travel to Beggs on Friday to complete the season series with the Beggs Lady Demons, then will travel to Oktaha on Monday for a meeting with the Oktaha Lady Tigers. The Henryetta ladies will close out their regular-season schedule next Tuesday at home against their arch rivals, the Morris Lady Eagles.

The remaining three regular-season contests are scheduled to get underway at 6:30 p.m.

In last Thursday's road game at Stigler, the Lady Knights were outscored 13-0 in the first period and 10-7 in the second stanza to trail 23-7 at the intermission. The deficit grew to 35-14 after three quarters after the Henryetta ladies were outscored 12-7 in the third period. Both teams tallied five points in the final frame to put the Lady Knights on the losing end of a 50-19 outcome.

Kaylie Hamric led the way offensively for Henryetta, finishing with a team-best 11 points. Kim Fowler and Ashlyn Green rounded out the Lady Knight scoring against Stigler with four points each.

The top scorer for the host Lady Panthers was Shauntey Hays with 24. Mattie Self also found her way into double figures for Stigler with 12 points.

In last Friday's road game at Eufaula, the Henryetta ladies failed to tally double digits in any quarter in the contest. The Lady Knights trailed 21-3 after one and 34-7 at halftime. The Henryetta ladies were outscored 18-5 and 4-2, respectively, in the final two frames to suffer the 54-14 setback.

Ashlyn Green was tops in scoring for Henryetta with eight points. Bayleigh Nye was next for the Lady Knights with four, followed by Bailey Davis with two.

Jaci Combs led a trio of double-digit scorers for Eufaula with a game-high 16 points. Kiaya Burns and Journi James were next for the Lady Ironheads with 11 points each.
