Young Professionals to give $500 Grand Prize for Christmas Lighting Competition

The Okmulgee Young Professionals group is excited to announce "Light Up Okmulgee" Holiday Light Competition with a $500 Grand Prize and a traveling trophy for bragging rights.  The competition will have a Neighborhood and Commercial category, with prizes awarded in each.

The Chamber of Commerce Community Development Committee held the event in previous years and the OYP group looks to expand this event.

"We're a new group, with new energy and what better way to introduce ourselves to Okmulgee than with a holiday light competition" Chandler Torbett, OYP President, said.

Winners will be announced on the evening of Dec. 15 at the OYP Tacky Christmas Sweater Party.  Entries into the competition will be accepted until Dec. 12 through Facebook, email, or by delivering a completed form to the Chamber of Commerce Office.  For competition guidelines and entry form, or OYP information, please visit the OYP Facebook page or Chamber website.

Further competition inquiries can be directed to Stephanie Abernathy, OYP Vice President, at (918) 752-6632 or by email at

The OYP would like to give a special thanks to Schaudt's Funeral Service, First National Bank & Trust of Okmulgee, Richard Larabee, Independent Landman, Okmulgee Farm Bureau, and Clinton A. Wilson, Attorney at Law for sponsoring the competition.

So get out those lights and start decorating, lets Light Up Okmulgee!
