JC Tipton, Jr.

May 14, 1934 - November 3, 2017

JC Tipton, Jr. was born May 14, 1934, in Okmulgee.  He lived life to its fullest until November 3, 2017, in Tulsa.  JC was the only child of JC and Christina Noble Tipton of Okmulgee.

JC graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1952 lettering in basketball, football, and baseball. He attended the University of Oklahoma and studied Finance.  JC married Timmie Evans of Okmulgee in 1955.  He served in the United States Army in Fort Hood, Texas from 1957 to 1959.  While stationed in Ft. Hood, JC and Timmie welcomed daughter, Terry in 1958. In 1959, JC accepted a job with Sarah Coventry and the family moved to San Antonio, Texas.  His son, JC Tipton III, was born in 1964.

In 1971, JC moved with his family to Oklahoma City.  He served as Vice President of Sarah Coventry and later became President of Sarah Coventry of Canada. Several years later, he returned to Okmulgee to care for his parents and to enjoy spending time with his children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. JC’s favorite pastime was cooking.  His family was very thankful he had this passion because he was great at it and he was always making them try something new! Every September 1, he and other family members were up before the sun, got dressed in their camo, and headed to the fields. It was his favorite day of the year because not only was it the opening day of dove season, but it was also his father’s birthday.

JC was preceded in death by his parents, Christina and JC Tipton, Sr.  He is survived by his daughter, Terry Mabrey and husband, John of Tulsa; son, JC Tipton III of Kiefer;  grandchildren, Katie Mabrey, Christy Rife and husband Michael, McLean Mabrey, Cori Tipton, and Kendall Tipton; and great grandchildren, Harper and Michael Rife.  He also has an uncle in Oklahoma City, Bill Noble and wife, Martha.
