Okmulgee County celebrates Halloween

Downtown Okmulgee was packed with little ghouls and goblins for the annual Scare on the Square event, providing a safe place for children to trick or treat. Local businesses from around town congregated around the Creek Council House passing out candy, while at 5 p.m. the Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce hosted a costume contest for different age groups and also pets. 

The winners of the Chamber of Commerce costume contest were: 

Ages 0-2

1st, Kamden Harjo

2nd, Bennett Hinds

3rd, Willie Lewis

Ages 3-8 

1st, Rowan Ramirez

2nd, Aidan Factor

3rd, Mason Dejear 

3rd, Ronald Quesenbury

Ages 9-15

1st, Madison Fisher

2nd, Kandace Johnson

Ages 16-18

Tie for 1st, Anastasia Adamson and Malcolm Johnson

Beggs also had a safe trick or treat space for children with their annual Trunk or Treat on Main Street. Churches and organizations came out to pass out candy to trick or treaters, host a talent show, and competed for the best looking Trunk.
