KELLYVILLE - The Beggs Golden Demons improved their 3A-6 district record to 2-0 this past Friday with a 52-24 thrashing of the Kellyville Ponies.

The 28-point victory also pushed the Demons' 2017 season record to 5-1.

The Demons will return to action this Friday with a home meeting with the talented Cushing Tigers, who sit just ahead of Beggs in the 3A-6 standings with a spotless 3-0 district record following the Tigers' narrow 21-18 win over Checotah in Cushing last Friday.

Kickoff for Friday's district battle with Cushing is set for 7 p.m. at Golden Demon Stadium in Beggs.

In last Friday's district showdown with Kellyville, the Demons did most of their scoring in the first two quarters, finding the end zone on seven different occasions.

Kellyville cut the deficit to 46-24 with three-straight scores in the second half, while the final tally of the contest came when C.J. McCall returned a kickoff 65 yards to paydirt in the fourth quarter.

The Demons opened the scoring with a 5-yard run by Jared Sutter in the first quarter. Carson Siegenthaler added the PAT kick to give the Beggs squad the early 7-0 advantage.

McCall accounted for the next Beggs score with a 15-yard TD run. Siegenthaler toed the extra-point kick to push the Demon lead to 14-0.

The final tally of the first quarter by the Demons came on a 25-yard pass from Dalton Spring to Shaidan Jordan. Siegenthaler's successful PAT kick sent the teams into the second quarter with Beggs in complete control at 21-0.

The opening score of the second quarter for the Demons came when Spring connected with E.J. Smoot on a 7-yard pass play. The PAT kick was off the mark, putting the Beggs lead at 27-0.

Sutter found the end zone for the second time in the contest in the second quarter on an 11-yard TD run. Once again, the extra-point try was unsuccessful, making it a 33-0 advantage for the visiting Demons.

Kayson Toliver got in on the scoring for Beggs, scoring from seven yards out in the second quarter. Siegenthaler was able to toe the PAT kick to push the Demons' lead to 40-0.

The final tally for the Demons in the first half came on the defensive side, as Jaidan Grayson returned an interception 60 yards to paydirt. The PAT kick was no good, sending the Beggs squad into the halftime break with a commanding 46-0 lead.

The only score of the third quarter came on a 17-yard run by Kellyville's Carson Beam. Beam then crossed the goal line on the conversion try to make it a 46-8 contest after three quarters of action.

The host Ponies got back-to-back TD runs of 3 and 13, yards, respectively, by Hayden Hutchins to open the scoring in the final frame. Hutchins also ran in both conversion attempts to cut the Beggs lead to 46-24.

McCall's 65-yard kickoff return after Hutchins' second score put an end to any comeback attempts by Kellyville, giving the visiting Beggs Golden Demons the 52-24 victory.
