Voters across Okmulgee County went to the polls April 7 to decide a slate of school board races and propositions, with the most closely watched contests taking place in Henryetta and Wilson Public Schools. Unofficial results released the following morning show decisive victories in both districts, along with mixed outcomes on propositions across the county.
— Molet claims Henryetta school board seat In the largest race of the election cycle, Henryetta Public Schools Board of Education, Office No. 1, voters selected David Molet to serve on the school board.
Molet secured 162 votes (66.39%), defeating challenger Ed Mordecai, who received 82 votes (33.61%). A total of 244 ballots were cast in the race, with the overwhelming majority – 228 votes – coming on Election Day.
In Wilson Public Schools, voters also delivered a clear outcome in the race for Office No. 1.
Travis K. Moore earned 25 votes (67.57%), defeating Nelson Harjo Jr., who finished with 12 votes (32.43%). The race drew a total of 37 votes, with nearly all ballots cast on Election Day.
Moore’s victory gives him a strong mandate as he steps into a leadership role within the district.
— Liberty, Tulsa Tech races decided
Elsewhere in the county, voters in the Liberty Public Schools district overwhelmingly selected Timothy Brown for Office No. 1, with 23 votes (85.19%), compared to Linda Dany’s 4 votes (14.81%).
In the Tulsa Tech Center District No. 18, Jim W. Baker won the race for Office No. 7, receiving 16 votes (59.26%) over Matthew McAfee, who garnered 11 votes (40.74%).
Voters also weighed in on several propositions involving technology centers and school districts, producing varied outcomes.
The Central Tech Center District No. 3 proposition was rejected, with five votes (71.43%) against and two votes (28.57%) in favor, reflecting limited support among participating voters.
In contrast, both propositions in the Graham-Dustin Public Schools district were approved.
• Proposition No. 1 passed decisively, with six votes (85.71%) in favor and one vote (14.29%) against.
• Proposition No. 2 also passed, though by a narrower margin, with four votes (57.14%) for and three votes (42.86%) against.
All results remain unofficial pending final certification by the Okmulgee County Election Board.
