Beggs JH Demons drop three straight
By TIFFANY BELL SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Beggs JH falls to Trojans

The Beggs JH Demons struggled to keep pace with Kiefer Trojans, falling 13-3 on March 30.

Kiefer jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, as Jax Basquez, Jackson McCaskey and Jaythan Castillo each drove in a run to make it 3-0.

The Trojans extended their lead in the second inning, scoring six runs on key plays including a tworun double by Cooper Howk and another two-run double from Brody Cantrell. Additional runs came from Wyatt Voros and Easton McCartney to push the lead further.

Kiefer continued to build momentum in the third inning. Basquez tripled to bring in a run, an error added another and Castillo followed with a two-run triple to widen the gap.

Brendon Bush took the loss for Beggs, pitching one and one-third innings and allowing eight runs (seven earned) on four hits. Cooper Howk earned the win for Kiefer, striking out five over three innings while allowing no hits and three runs.

Offensively, Bowen and Paxton each drove in a run for Beggs, while Bowen also led the team with two walks. The Demons showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks in the game.

Kiefer was strong at the plate, with Howk and Basquez each collecting two hits. McCaskey, Castillo and Cantrell each drove in two runs. The Trojans also showed discipline with six walks and were aggressive on the bases, racking up 13 stolen bases in the game.

Defensively, Kiefer played a clean game without committing an error, with Castillo leading the team in fielding chances.

— JH Demons struggle against Verdigris

The Beggs JH Demons fought hard but couldn’t keep up with Verdigris, falling 13-0 on April 3 at Adair after a decisive fourth inning.

Beggs showed flashes early, with Paxton recording a hit in two at-bats and the team turning a key double play. The Demons worked to stay in the game, but Verdigris’ big fourth inning, which included multiple extra-base hits and timely RBIs, put the game out of reach.

Max took the mound for Beggs, pitching two and two-thirds innings and striking out one while walking three. Despite giving up six runs (none earned), the pitcher battled through a tough lineup.

Offensively, the Demons struggled to generate hits against a strong Verdigris pitching staff, but showed discipline at the plate with a few opportunities and solid base running. On defense, Beggs made a standout double play, highlighting their effort in the field.

Though the scoreboard reflected a lopsided outcome, the Demons continued to compete throughout the game, setting a foundation to build on in upcoming matchups.

— Beggs JH falls to Locust Grove in blowout The Beggs JH Demons struggled to recover from a big third inning, falling 16-2 to Locust Grove on Friday at Adair.

Locust Grove got off to a fast start in the first inning, with Mason Welk and Cayden Estes each delivering RBI hits to give their team an early advantage.

They continued to build momentum in the second inning, taking advantage of a Beggs error along with run-scoring plays from Brady Hood and Ryder Rodriguez to extend the lead.

The game broke open in the third inning, when Locust Grove erupted for 11 runs on five hits. The inning was highlighted by multiple extra-base hits, including doubles from Rodriguez, Estes and Shawn Russell, while walks and defensive miscues added to the scoring surge.
