The Beggs High School track team delivered an impressive showing at the Stroud Invitational on Saturday, March 28, highlighted by multiple first-place finishes and strong performances across sprint, distance and field events.
For the boys team, Junior Trey Ross led the charge for Beggs, claiming first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.05. Ross also played a pivotal role in the Demons’ relay success, helping power the 4×100 team to a second-place finish in 44.21. Teaming with Jordan Wesley, Josiah Hughes and Brayden King, the group showcased both speed and precision.
That same quartet continued its strong performance in the 4×200 relay, earning another second-place finish with a time of 1:33.10, solidifying Beggs as a top contender in the sprint relays.
Jordan Wesley added to the Demons’ success with a first-place finish in the 400 meters, clocking in at 53.17. Wesley’s versatility was evident as he contributed across multiple relays, including the 4×400 team that placed fourth with a time of 4:30.17.
In the field events, Jason Nethon delivered a standout performance, capturing first place in the shot put with a throw of 44 feet, 10 inches. His victory added valuable points and highlighted Beggs’ strength beyond the track.
Sterling Jordan turned in a strong meet as well, finishing third in the 400 meters (53.71) and placing fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 24.17.
The Demons’ distance squad also contributed, as the 4×800 relay team of Isaiah Clay, Tripp Hall, Jackson Turner and Oliver Wadsworth placed sixth with a time of 9:45.45. Clay also competed in the 1600 meters, finishing ninth in 5:09.81.
Another highlight came from Devin Monteque, who recorded a personal record in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.62, continuing his steady improvement this season.
Head Coach Jason Sport credited the team’s effort and growth, noting the combination of individual victories and relay consistency as key takeaways from the meet.
With multiple event champions and strong finishes across the board, the Demons continue to build momentum as the season progresses.
Meanwhile, on the girls’ side, the 4×100 relay team of Emmabreah Triplett, Kamya Stallings, Rylan Wesley and Padon Stallings paced the Lady Demons with a sixth-place finish, posting a time of 52.99. The same group returned in the 4×200 relay, finishing eighth with a time of 1:53.03 while continuing to build chemistry and consistency.
Beggs found its top finish of the day in the 4×400 relay, where Kamya Stallings, Padon Stallings, Emmabreah Triplett and Peyton Turner combined for a fourth-place result in 4:30.17. The performance highlighted the team’s endurance and ability to compete late in the meet.
Individually, Kamya Stallings led the Lady Demons in the 100-meter dash, placing fifth with a time of 13.34 against a competitive field.
Throughout the meet, Beggs showed depth across its relay teams, with multiple athletes contributing in several events. The experience gained and continued development were evident as the Lady Demons competed stride for stride with larger programs.
Head Coach Jason Sport noted the team’s effort and progress, emphasizing the importance of continued improvement as the season moves forward.
With solid relay finishes and promising individual performances, the Lady Demons will look to build on their results in upcoming meets.
