Okmulgee Main Street releases full 2026 calendar

A full year of community celebration, engagement and economic vitality is on the horizon as Okmulgee Main Street has released its 2026 calendar of events, offering residents and visitors a wide variety of opportunities to connect, celebrate and support downtown throughout the year.

The year begins in April with a pair of events focused on growth and collaboration. A Mobile Workshop in Okmulgee is scheduled for April 12, followed by participation in the Main Street America Conference on April 13, where local leaders will engage with statewide and national partners to share ideas and best practices for community development.

Also tied to spring cleanup efforts, Main Street has partnered with local organizations in the past for community beautification initiatives such as the Citywide Cleanup, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a welcoming and vibrant downtown environment.

In May, Okmulgee will be represented at the state level during Main Street Day at the Capitol on May 4. The annual event provides an opportunity to highlight the impact of Main Street programs and advocate for continued investment in local communities.

Several additional events are in the planning stages, including Dinner with the Stars and the Big Brain Trivia Night Fundraiser, with dates to be announced. These events are expected to serve as both entertainment and fundraising opportunities to support Main Street initiatives.

As the calendar turns to fall, some of Okmulgee’s most anticipated traditions return. The ever-popular Chili Fest is set for Oct. 24, bringing together food, fun and friendly competition. Just days later, downtown will transform for Scare on the Square on Oct. 30, offering a safe and festive Halloween experience for families. The holiday season will feature multiple events aimed at encouraging local shopping and celebrating community spirit. Shop Small Saturday will take place on Nov. 28, encouraging residents to support local businesses during the busiest shopping season of the year.

December will be especially festive, highlighted by Christmas on the Square, scheduled for Dec. 1013. The multi-day celebration will include a variety of holiday-themed activities designed to bring families downtown and create lasting memories.

Coinciding with the holiday festivities, the 2026 Festival of Lights Parade will take place on Dec. 10, illuminating downtown Okmulgee and kicking off the Christmas season in grand fashion.
