Lady Demons’ offensive surge not enough in loss to Dewar
By TIFFANY BELL SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

The Beggs Lady Demons put together an impressive showing at the plate but ultimately fell short in a 12-9 loss to Dewar at MCN’s Claude Cox Omniplex on March 24.

In a high-scoring contest, Beggs out-hit Dewar 15-14, with five players – Brooklyn Hazelwood, Willow Herod, Emma Trimble, Aliyah Vernon and Taytum Mills – each recording two hits. Despite the strong offensive output, timely hits and key moments favored Dewar.

Dewar struck first in the opening inning when E. Hall launched a two-run home run to center field. The visitors added to their lead in the third inning with RBI singles from J. Berry and K. Anderson, extending the advantage to 5-0.

Beggs responded in a big way in the bottom of the third, erupting for five runs on four hits to even the score. Stella Howell drove in a run with a single, while an error allowed another to cross the plate. The highlight of the inning came from Emma Trimble, who blasted an inside-thepark home run to bring in three runs and shift momentum.

The game remained tight, but Dewar regained the lead in the top of the fourth inning, capitalizing on a Beggs error to go ahead 6-5. From there, Dewar maintained its edge in a back-and-forth battle.

Trimble led the Lady Demons offensively, driving in three runs while going 2-for-4 at the plate. Beggs finished with 15 total hits, showcasing depth and consistency throughout the lineup.

Ruby Tenison pitched a complete game for Beggs, allowing 14 hits and 12 runs- six earnedover seven innings, while striking out one and walking one.

Dewar was led by K. Anderson, who went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Hall and M. Story each contributed two RBIs.

Although the Lady Demons came up short, their offensive performance highlighted their ability to compete in high-scoring matchups and keep pressure on opposing teams throughout the game.
