Henryetta offense highlights tough outing at Jenks Tournament
By Patrick Ford Editor

The Henryetta Lady Knights slowpitch softball team showed flashes of offensive firepower and resilience throughout a challenging slate of games Thursday at Jenks, but ultimately came away winless against a tough trio of opponents in Jenks, Pocola and Fairland.

Despite the results, Henryetta consistently put pressure on opposing defenses, collecting double-digit hits in two of the three contests and delivering several standout individual performances – highlighted by a historic power display from Keegan Hamric.

— Lady Knights out-hit Jenks, but fall short In their opening game, Henryetta outhit Jenks 10-8 but could not overcome a decisive third inning in an 8-3 loss.

The Lady Knights came out aggressive, plating two runs in the top of the first inning. Ailanee Hicks sparked the offense with a single down the left field line, while Hailey Lewis added an RBI on a groundout to give Henryetta an early edge.

Jenks answered quickly, tying the game in the bottom half of the inning before the teams traded momentum again in the third. Hicks delivered once more, ripping a double to give Henryetta a 3-2 lead.

However, the game turned in the bottom of the third inning when Jenks erupted for six runs on four hits. A key two-RBI single highlighted the rally, putting the Lady Trojans firmly in control.

Hicks led Henryetta at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while she and Serenity Rex each recorded multiple hits. In the circle, Keegan Hamric worked six innings, allowing eight runs (three earned) on eight hits while battling through seven walks.

— Big innings doom Henryetta against Pocola The Lady Knights struggled to contain Pocola’s explosive offense in the second game, falling 17-1 after surrendering 17 runs across two innings.

Henryetta briefly held the lead after Hailey Lewis drove in a run on a fielder’s choice in the first inning. But Pocola responded immediately, scoring seven runs in the bottom half and never looking back.

The second inning proved even more difficult, as Pocola piled on 10 runs behind a combination of timely hitting and defensive miscues. Multiple errors contributed to the rally, allowing Pocola to extend its advantage beyond reach.

Offensively, Henryetta again showed fight at the plate. Hamric and Hicks each recorded two hits, while Lewis accounted for the team’s lone RBI.

Hamric took the loss in the circle, allowing 17 runs (four earned) on 11 hits over two innings.

— Hamric’s monster game not enough vs. Fairland Henryetta saved its most explosive offensive performance for the final game of the day, but a high-powered Fairland lineup proved just as dangerous in a 12-10 loss.

Hamric delivered one of the most impressive individual outings of the season, blasting two home runs – including a grand slam – and driving in seven runs.

The Lady Knights struck first, scoring two runs in the opening inning before Hamric’s grand slam in the second gave Henryetta a 6-3 lead. She added another three-run homer in the third as part of a four-run inning that pushed the advantage to 10-3.

Fairland, however, responded with a surge of its own. The Lady Owls tied the game in the third inning behind a flurry of hits, then took the lead for good in the fourth with a go-ahead RBI single followed by a bases- loaded walk.

Henryetta finished with 10 hits and showed strong plate discipline, drawing 11 walks. Hamric and Hicks led the charge with three hits apiece, while Lewis added two hits.

Fairland countered with 16 hits, with multiple players contributing to a balanced offensive attack.
