The Dewar Lady Dragons experienced a mix of highs and lows over a busy stretch of games, showcasing both offensive firepower and defensive consistency while facing a challenging slate of opponents.
Dewar opened the run of contests with an 8-0 loss to the Stroud Lady Tigers on Thursday, as a big second inning proved to be the difference.
Stroud struck first in the opening inning when Carly Miller delivered an RBI single. The Lady Tigers then broke the game open in the second, plating five runs on seven hits. Miller added a two-run single in the frame, while Cami Wilson, Miyah Clark and Brynleigh Bell each contributed run-scoring hits.
Despite the setback, Dewar showed solid fundamentals defensively. The Lady Dragons committed no errors and turned a double play, with Brooklyn Harvell leading the way with four defensive chances.
At the plate, Miracle Story led Dewar with a perfect 2-for-2 performance, accounting for two of the team’s seven hits.
Cali Thomason took the loss in the circle, working five innings while allowing eight runs on 16 hits. She struck out four and did not issue a walk.
The Lady Dragons rebounded in impressive fashion on Friday, earning a 12-5 victory over Okemah behind a dominant offensive showing and a standout individual performance from Emmy Hall.
Hall was nearly unstoppable at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with a triple, a double and two singles. She also drove in three runs, including a key bases- clearing triple in the second inning.
After trailing 1-0 early, Dewar responded in the bottom of the first as Shyan Snelson and Korbyn Anderson each drove in runs to take the lead.
The Lady Dragons broke the game open in the second inning, scoring five runs on four hits. Hall’s three-run triple highlighted the rally, while Snelson added an RBI single and Jaycie Berry drew a bases-loaded walk.
Dewar finished with 14 hits in the contest, with Snelson delivering a strong 3-for-4 outing and leading the team with four RBIs. Anderson added two hits, while Thomason showed patience at the plate with three walks as the team drew six total free passes.
Thomason also earned the win in the circle, pitching six innings and allowing five runs on 11 hits, while striking out one and walking two.
Defensively, Dewar remained sharp, committing no errors and turning another double play. Berry led the team with seven fielding chances.
Later Friday, the Lady Dragons ran into a tough Prague Reddevils squad, falling 14-1.
Dewar struck first in the opening inning when Anderson singled to drive in a run, but Prague answered with three runs in the third to take control.
The Reddevils sealed the game with a six-run sixth inning, fueled by a series of extra-base hits including doubles from Dusti Gregory, Taelyr Norman, Kacey Cantrell and Keira Carter, along with a triple from Ainsley Auld.
Thomason again took the circle for Dewar, pitching six innings against a relentless Prague offense that produced 20 hits. She allowed 14 runs while walking two.
Offensively, Dewar was limited to three hits, with Anderson, Thomason and Berry each recording one. Anderson drove in the team’s lone run.
Even in defeat, the Lady Dragons continued to shine defensively, playing error-free softball and turning a double play. Berry once again led the team in the field with four chances.
Across the three-game stretch, Dewar combined for 24 hits, highlighted by Hall’s perfect performance and Snelson’s run production in the win over Okemah. The Lady Dragons also demonstrated consistency on defense, committing no errors in any of the contests while turning three double plays.
Dewar will look to build on its offensive momentum while continuing its strong defensive play as the season progresses.
