SME Rental brings big equipment solutions close to home
By Patrick Ford Editor

What once required a long drive to Tulsa, Oklahoma City or even across state lines can now be handled right here at home, thanks to the growing presence of SME Rental, part of the Stewart Martin Kubota Sales and Leasing family.

Located along U.S. Highway 75 in Okmulgee (former Pat’s Archery building and just below the water tower) SME Rental has quickly established itself as a vital resource for homeowners, contractors and businesses alike – offering convenient access to the tools and heavy equipment needed to get the job done.

After opening its Okmulgee location less than a year ago, the operation is already filling a long-standing gap in the local market.

“We hear it all the time-this has been needed for a long time,” Wesley Squire, rental coordinator, said. “People used to have to travel out of town just to rent what they needed. Now it’s right here.”

— A Natural Extension of a Trusted Name SME Rental operates as a sister company to Stewart Martin Kubota, a business with deep roots in Green Country dating back to 1929. Over the decades, the company has built a reputation for supporting farmers, ranchers and local businesses through quality equipment, service and customer care.

With locations in Okmulgee, Bixby, Broken Arrow and Muskogee, the Stewart Martin Kubota network provides a strong backbone for SME Rental – allowing the Okmulgee store to draw from a larger inventory when needed.

That connection is a major advantage for customers.

“If we don’t have it here, we can usually get it from another location,” Squire explained. “We do everything we can to make sure customers have what they need when they need it.”

— Equipment for Every Project

From weekend projects to commercial jobs, SME Rental offers a wide range of equipment designed to meet diverse needs. Available rentals include:

• Skid steers and excavators

• Compact tractors with attachments such as box blades and brush hogs

• Backhoes and loaders

• Handheld equipment including chainsaws, concrete saws and power washers Whether someone is digging a trench, clearing land or tackling a home improvement project, the goal is simple: provide the right tool for the job without requiring a major investment.

“We’re seeing a lot of homeowners doing their own projects,” Cole Wells, general manager said. “It’s that weekend warrior mentality-people want to get things done themselves, and we help them make that happen.”

SME Rental offers flexible rental terms, including daily, weekly and monthly options. Customers typically receive 24-hour possession with equipment usage guidelines, allowing them to complete projects efficiently without overcommitting.

Delivery is also available, making it even easier for customers who may not have the equipment or transportation to haul heavy machinery.

That convenience factor is one of the biggest selling points.

“For me, the biggest thing is not having to leave the county,” Wells said. “People shouldn’t have to drive an hour just to rent a piece of equipment. Now they don’t.”

— Serving Both Homeowners & Businesses The customer base at SME Rental is a balanced mix of residential and commercial users. While contractors rely on the equipment for job sites, many local residents are discovering the benefits of renting for short-term needs.

Instead of purchasing expensive machinery for a one-time use, customers can rent exactly what they need, when they need it.

“There’s a lot of value in being able to try equipment before buying it,” staff explained. “And for many projects, renting just makes more sense.”

— Built Around Community Needs

At its core, SME Rental reflects the same community-first philosophy that has guided Stewart Martin Kubota for nearly a century.

The company’s expansion into rentals wasn’t just about business growth-it was about solving a problem.

“When people keep asking for something, you listen,” a team member said. “This is about serving the community and making life easier for people here.”

That mission is already resonating. From first-time customers walking through the door to repeat clients returning for new projects, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

And as SME Rental continues to grow-adding equipment, expanding inventory and exploring additional services-it’s clear the operation is just getting started.

With its convenient location, expanding inventory and connection to a trusted regional brand, SME Rental is quickly becoming a go-to solution for equipment needs across Okmulgee County.

For residents and businesses alike, it represents more than just a rental shop-it’s a sign of continued growth, investment and opportunity within the community.

As Squire put it simply: “We’re here to help people get their projects done-and keep that work right here at home.”
