Area Catholic faithful are invited to take part in a full schedule of Holy Week and Easter services beginning Sunday, March 29, and continuing through Easter Sunday, April 5, as St. Anthony Church and Uganda Martyrs Church prepare for one of the most sacred seasons of the Christian calendar.
The week begins with Palm Sunday on March 29, marking the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Palms will be distributed at all Masses. Services will be held at Uganda Martyrs Church at 8:30 a.m. and St. Anthony Church at 11 a.m., with the later Mass followed by a potluck lunch, offering parishioners an opportunity for fellowship.
The observance continues with the Chrism Mass on Tuesday, March 31, at 5:30 p.m. at Holy Family Cathedral in Tulsa. This special diocesan celebration includes the blessing of sacred oils used throughout the year. There will be no daily Mass locally that day.
Holy Week then moves into its most solemn days:
• Holy Thursday (April 2): Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony Church, featuring the use of incense. Following Mass, Eucharistic Adoration will continue in the church until 10 p.m., allowing time for quiet prayer and reflection.
• Good Friday (April 3): The day begins with Stations of the Cross at noon at St. Anthony Church, commemorating Christ’s journey to the cross. Later that evening, the Good Friday Service will be held at 7 p.m. at Uganda Martyrs Church, focusing on the Passion of Christ.
The celebration of the Resurrection begins with the Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 4, at 8:30 p.m. at St. Anthony Church. The week culminates with Easter Sunday on April 5, celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Easter Masses will be held at Uganda Martyrs Church at 8:30 a.m. and St. Anthony Church at 11 a.m.
