Okmulgee County was well represented at the state powerlifting championships in El Reno, as athletes from multiple schools delivered strong performances across a wide range of weight classes. Competitors from Beggs, Morris, Preston, Henryetta and Dewar all earned their place on the state stage, with several lifters finishing among the top in Oklahoma.
Leading the way for the county was a group of standout performers who secured top-four finishes in their respective divisions. At 157 pounds, Beggs freshman Easton Bradley turned in one of the top performances of the meet, finishing second overall with a 340-pound squat, 185-pound bench press and 355-pound deadlift. His performance highlighted both strength and consistency across all three lifts.
Also earning a second-place finish was Preston’s Maddox Parsons in the 181-pound weight class. Parsons posted a 365-pound squat, an impressive 240-pound bench press, and a 415-pound deadlift, making him one of the top competitors in his division.
Beggs continued to make its presence felt with multiple topfour finishes. Braxton Frost placed fourth in the 145-pound class, totaling lifts of 270 in the squat, 170 on the bench and 365 in the deadlift. Grant Riley added another fourth-place finish for Beggs in the 242-pound division, recording a 375-pound squat, 200-pound bench and 405-pound deadlift.
Henryetta’s Ryan Weaver also earned a fourth-place finish in the 220-pound weight class. Weaver turned in a strong performance with a 365-pound squat, 225-pound bench press and 385-pound deadlift, demonstrating power across all three disciplines.
Morris was well represented with multiple lifters competing at state. Joxon Selvig led the Eagles with a seventhplace finish in the 145-pound class, posting a 395-pound squat, 200-pound bench press, and 385-pound deadlift. Teammate Elias Smith also placed seventh in the 181-pound division, while Timmy Morgan followed closely with an eighthplace finish in the same weight class. Lane Boatner added a 13th-place finish at 123 pounds, contributing to Morris’ overall presence at the meet.
Beggs junior Jason Nethon competed in the 198-pound division, finishing 19th with a 385-pound squat, 205-pound bench press and 405-pound deadlift. His performance came against a deep and competitive field.
Henryetta also saw contributions from Josh Mordecai, who placed 10th in the 198-pound class with a 310-pound squat, 210-pound bench press and 350-pound deadlift, and Thomas Austin, who finished seventh in the 242-pound division.
Dewar’s Kade Birdtail placed 5th overall in the 275lb division with a 1,440 lb total, 570 lb Squat, 330 lb Bench Press, and 540 lb Deadlift. He was successful on all nine attempts on the day and hit personal bests on squat and deadlift.
Aydin Boatright placed 9th overall in the 242lb 9th grade division with lifts of 335 in the squat, 180 on the bench and 340 in the deadlift.
Across the board, Okmulgee County athletes demonstrated strength, discipline and preparation at the highest level of competition. With multiple top finishes and a wide representation across schools and weight classes, the county proved it can compete with the best in Oklahoma.
The performances in El Reno not only highlight the current success of these programs but also point to a strong future, with underclassmen already making a significant impact on the state stage.
