Okmulgee girls participate at Glenpool meet
By TIFFANY BELL SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

The Okmulgee Bulldogs girl’s track team turned in a competitive showing Friday at the Glenpool Invitational, competing across a variety of events against schools of all sizes. The team highlighted its versatility in sprints, relays and field events, with multiple athletes posting top finishes.

Okmulgee girl’s relay teams posted solid results. The 4×100 relay squad – Montesque, Orr, Penn and Proctor – crossed the line in 57.71 seconds, while the 4×200 relay team of Montesque, Penn, Proctor and Orr finished in 2:04.47, giving the Bulldogs visibility in both sprint relay events.

In individual sprints, Destiny Montesque led the team in the 100 meters with a 13.36-second run, placing sixth overall, while Zykia Orr finished the 100 meters in 14.87 seconds. Montesque again led Okmulgee in the 200 meters, running 27.37 seconds, with Orr recording a 31.87 and Alice Wise finishing in 33.34 seconds.

Distance events provided opportunities for endurance-focused athletes. While the 800 and 3200 meters times were not recorded for Okmulgee, the girls’ participation in these events contributed to the overall team depth.

Okmulgee field events also showcased competitive efforts. Kennedy Penn led the shot put with a throw of 27 feet, 9 inches, followed closely by Kemri Penn at 26 feet, 9½ inches and Tiah Harjo at 26 feet, 6 inches. In the discus, Zariah Wilson posted a 78-foot, 5-inch throw, with Kennedy Penn reaching 70 feet, 10 inches. Other notable throws included Azryel Mills at 58 feet and Kemri Penn at 57 feet.

Though long jump, high jump and pole vault performances were not recorded, Okmulgee’s athletes competed alongside larger schools and maintained a strong presence across the meet.

The girls’ relay handoffs were smooth and demonstrated teamwork, while sprinting and field event efforts highlighted individual strengths and versatility. Montesque, Penn, Proctor, Orr and Wilson were among the top performers, contributing points and helping Okmulgee remain competitive across multiple disciplines.

Overall, the Bulldogs girls track team showed balance between sprinting, endurance and field events, building confidence and gaining experience in a challenging invitational environment.

The Okmulgee girls will look to continue improving as the season progresses, carrying forward lessons from Friday’s meet and preparing for upcoming competitions that test speed, endurance and technical skill.
